Talk me through how this might work.

We are sailing on the 03/18/17 Fantasy that returns to Port Canaveral on 3/25. There is a 4 night Wonder leaving on 3/26. DD would be so excited to see the new Frozen show and I'd like to check out a classic ship. We would just do an inside room and take it easy.

How could I make this work? We won't have a car. Are there hotels in Port Canaveral that would pick me up at the cruise terminal Saturday morning and take me back the next morning? If so, are any of them in walking distance to something like a beach, shopping, and restaurants? I've heard of a place called Fish Lips where you can watch ships sail in and out. That sounds interesting.

Any advice is appreciated.

Not sure about shuttles to the port, but I would think so. There are plenty of hotels. I'll just point out that day you return is a pretty early morning. You might just want to hang out at the hotel and use the pool, and relax.

I have heard good things about Raddision at Port Canaveral. They have a shuttle service from port to hotel. Here is the website.

I would call all 3 resorts that are near by the Port. Actually 4 but I forget the 4th. Country Inn Suites is closest, with a new one across the street, then there is the Residence Inn and Radison. All 3 have port to resort transfers etc. They also usually have some way or a recommended way to get to the beach, which is only 2 or 3 miles away.

There are 3 restaurants on the water near the port, and none of them are really walking distance. The ships sail past all 3. Its about a mile from the closest resort to the closest restaurant. Maybe a little more. Theres Fishlips, Grills and Rustys. Fish Lips has the camera on it that Port Canaveral uses on their Facebok page.

For me that is certainly true. However, my 4 year old may have a difference of opinion. Ha!

I'd just like to have easy options. Looking at the map, Radisson and Homewood Suites look like they've got simple shopping close by to do a supply run then we could Uber to dinner on the water.

We will keep investigating this option.

Have you considered renting a car Just for that one day? It would allow you more flexibility in traveling around the Canaveral area, and allow you to choose a hotel right on the beach.

I worry about a car seat. If really prefer not to drag one along on the trip. But, it might be really convenient, you're right.

Most rental places stock both baby carseats and toddler carseats. It's never been an issue to rent one for us.

You know, I just peeked. I can rent from enterprise with a car seat for less than $50. I'd pay that in Uber fees. Thanks @Terapin and @dcassetta

Since your DD is 4, is she in a booster seat or car seat? If she is in a booster, look at the bubble bum seats. They are a more portable seat and easier than dragging one along.

There is a car rental agency between CIS and Residnce (or Radison I forget which is which). That may help you out also since its next door to both resorts and you can use the resort shuttle to get on and off the ships. Or take their shuttle and get your car, then go to your resort.

One question to ask the hotel is whether they will allow you to check-in and access their pool before official check-in time. We ran into this situation once: arrived around 11am at a hotel expecting to hang-out by the pool for the day even if the room wasn't ready, but they wouldn't allow us to do so until a 3pm check-in. We ended up driving around and shopping to kill time, which wasn't bad just not what we'd planned.

We still do a 5 point harness. I long for the days of easy little boosters.

Might not be the case anymore, but the Cosco Scenera was a great five point seat for traveling. Light and decently rated.
