I ordered a background stand from B&H on Tuesday(1st time I've ordered from them)- it shipped out Wednesday, is supposed to arrive here tomorrow but is already in Chelmsford, Ma which isn't far. It may get here today. That is quick service!

They are FAST. I often get a shipping confirmation within a couple of hours after ordering. I've never been disappointed with their service, although I do like to shop locally when it makes sense to do so (i.e., when it doesn't cost twice as much).

Hope you like your new equipment.

It should work out great. We have an inexpensive lighting kit and were using a white sheet as a background. Problem is that its set up in our basement which has cement block walls covered with a thin layer of wainscotting so we were duct taping the sheet to the wall- it won't stay up- falls, gets all wrinkled, cats sleep on it....I just got an inexpensive one for now since its only holding up a sheet. It'll save me a lot of aggrevation- washing and ironing a king size sheet!

You'll get it tomorrow I would guess. If going UPS of Fed-Ex those trucks are loaded and 'out for delivery' about 6:30 am here. So it may be in the area, but it wont get loaded on your delivery truck til tomorrow, I would almost promise. Of course, sometimes suprises happen :) :wizard:

But I agree they dont mess around on the shipping..

The only thing that annoys me about B&H is that they don't take orders from sundown on Friday to sundown on Saturday. I respect their reasons, but it still annoys me.

B&H is always fast. They have a very efficient system in place and plenty of stuff in stock at all times.

I've actually ordered stuff early in the day with regular shipping and had it arrive the next day (I'm in Baltimore). Everything I've ever ordered from B&H has shipped out the same day I ordered it, except those things that I order late in the evening. And it rarely takes more than two days for the stuff to get from NYC to Baltimore.

It is very seldom that I order photo items from anyone other than B&H. Here in the Boston area, their standard shipping, which I get free being a NAPP member, usually gets it to me overnight. Their prices are competitive. And, they can be a great source for non-photo items as well. As for their Friday evening through Saturday evening closure, it is no big deal and I applaud them for standing up for their beliefs. Many places close for a day or two or have limited hours one day a week so you just have to deal with it. If they allowed orders when they are closed, people would start complaining that they didn't get their shipments on time, so it is best for everyone that they don't accept orders.

If you ever go to NY, a trip to their store is a real treat. Don't buy there as you will have to pay NY sales taxes, but it is an incredibly efficient operation and fun to see, especially the overhead stock bins flying around.

I have to agree that B& H is terrific! I've never had a problem when I order from them - and, just ask my husband, I've ordered from B&H A LOT :rotfl2: - and the standard shipping usually arrives within a day or two - depending on what and when I order (I have things shipped to me at work in DC or to my home in Southern Maryland). I would love to make the trip to NYC to see the store, too. I'm sure it is a paradise for photographers/videographers!
