I have two kids who will be celebrating their birthdays while we are at WDW. What kind of special things can I do for them. I am new to WDW so I am not sure what is available. This will be all of our first time there and I want this to be the most rememorable thing ever for them. I just want it to be magical. :wizard:

Boys or girls? and what ages? Chef Mickeys character breakfast or dinner is a great place to celebrate. Be sure to tell them when you make your ressie that you are celebrating a birthday. If you have girls you may want to do Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique and a meal at Cinderella's royal table. Or, for a budget friendly option, have an updo with colored gel and pixie dust done at the main st. barbershop in MK for only $7.50. Dinner at the Hoop de doo is a lot of fun, also. Give us a few more details on your kids. Also, be sure to get them a birthday button at the parks to wear each day of your trip.

Yes we would need more info...and if you were looking to do both at one time, or if you were looking to do seperate b-day fun....

Be sure to stop in at guest services at the park and ask for the birthday button. When your kids wear these, they will get lots of birthday wishes.

one is a girl turning 4 and one a boy turning 11. They both have different tastes and I am not sure about BBB for my daughter. She has sensory problems dealing with her hair and wont let no one brush it much less put it up. My son is a bit on the reserve side and takes a bit to warm up and have fun. Dont know what he will be like at WDW though since he has never been there. would like to get ideas to do things both together and seperate.

Well you could do Coaral Reef for your son...you can call and get a diver to hold up a Happy Birthday sign and even get a customized menu for him (all free). We did this for my dd who turned 6 last vacation and she LOVED it..the diver comes right up to the glass in the tank, holds up the Happy B-day sign then they sing Happy Birthday and he takes a huge handful of sand and shells and throws it up around him like confetti...it was really cute and a lot of fun. Im sure it would work for the 2 of them and you can get a nice cake and all.
OR if you wanted something seperate for your DD you could do a Princess storybook breakfast (my girls wouldn't have been happy with the lunch or dinner menu) or Crystal Palace (if she like Pooh and the gang) or Chef Mickeys would be fun for both of them.
Defintely make sure to get the B-day buttons..i think you can even get them at your resort front desk... and tell them when you check in that you are celebrating b-days.
Hope i helped a bit...

We are going next week and my DS is celebrating his 6th bday while we are there - basically we let him plan the day, which park, which restaurant, which rides - if only he knew how big a gift that is I don't do well without a detailed schedule especially with a 3 yo and 4 month old in tow. So of course he picked Magic Kingdom, we will be getting him his button at town hall when we arrive - we got reservations at Crystal Palace for dinner and informed the restaurant that he is having a bday, but unfortunately due to allergies we need them to skip the cake part of their celebration. Then I will make him a cake (we are staying at the villas at WL so I have a kitchen at my disposal) to have back at the resort and do presents. If it weren't for his allergies we were originally going to sign him up for the Pirate Adventure from the GF but they serve pb&j for lunch - can't go to that!

this is going to be a total surprise trip for them. Neither one has any idea we are going on vacation much less going to WDW. Love the coral reef idea sounds so cool. will look into crystal palace. you all are so great on here I tell you all.

Question about the birthday button? We have ressies at CRT before the park opens, will we still be able to go to town hall before our ressies and get a birthday button, or will we have to wait until after breakfast?

Hello all,
This may not be of much help, but its my new favorite Disney story (and I have some great ones). I took my first trip to Disney when I was 22... I had never been on Spring break and a friend convinced me that Disney should be the first... and conned me into joining him on his annual trip. Jump to 5 years later... just this last September, I convinced my mother, father, and sister to join my wife and I on the first family vacation ever (We are solidly working class and the idea of my father not working took some convincing even though he had weeks of built up days off.) We went on my mother's birthday! It was a week before my parent's anniversary as well.

It was the best idea ever! We made reservations at Tony's in Magic Kingdom. We told the waiter it was Mom's birthday and that their anniversary is coming up in a week. The waiter lead the group in a verse of Amore' and we added the birthday cake to our meal and it was great. The 8 inch one ran about 7.95, but fed all 5 of us with cake left (its sweet... good, but mega-sweet). Anyway, when we said that this was a trip we had tried to get them to go on for 5 years, he asked if we would like them to do something special for my parents. They called my parents over to the fountain and had them re-enact the scene from "Lady and the Tramp" featuring the meatball rolling with a nose. I have never seen my father laugh so hard or my mother so happy and both of them were cutting up, a rare thing as both are usually fairly serious.

I know it doesn't seem to relate, but the lengths that the staff went to to make it all about my parents was phenomenal. If you have a chance to do something on park for someone you love, do it! Let the staff know in advance and they'll work hard to make it a memory worth all the money for the trip. It may have took years to convince my family to go on vacation, but the lengths they went to made us want to go back... and we are... my wife has two sisters who are significantly younger than her (15 years to the next oldest one) and we are taking them for their birthdays in March. I may not have went on the trip until I was 22, but I have made it a mission to share the magic I felt... so I took my wife for her first time, then we took my family, and now we are taking hers... and everytime, no matter the event we are celebrating (anniversary, birthday, or anything at all) the park staff in the restaurants makes it awesome....

I'm a 27 year old professional man, but even I have to say do the birthday on park, and let the staff know wherever you are and they will find some way to make it special!

Just my two cents....
Sorry to have blabbed so much... just thinking about how much it meant to my mother and how I can't capture it enough in words... if a birthday on park can reach my parents, then for a child I can only imagine how awesome it would be.
