Treating DH for his big 55 in April. Please respond with any ideas to really make it special. (His mom died last year at his b'day.) SO this really is special. Will be staying at the Hilton on site - did the reservations before finding this board. HELP!

Well, are you open to eating all types of food? If so and even more so if you like wine, I would do Victoria and Alberts. Talk about special!! And do the wine pairings if you even remotely like wine!! It is pricey but worth every penny!!

If he loves steak (and maybe football) go to Shula's at the Dolphin.

V&A's is awesome if you want to spend several hundred dollars. If not, Shula's is great for steak, California Grill is just all-around awesome, and bluezoo or Flying Fish would be great if you want seafood.

My mom turned 53 the last time we went and she wore the bday pin at every park and throughout the day she was getting cards from different attractions and special attention from the characters. Also, every restaurant you go to make sure you tell them its his birthday and they will for sure do something. One of the restaurants we went to was LTT and they had our table decorated and they brought her out a cake and everything. It was fantastic. Another thing we did was call the florist and have a birthday bag delivered to our room at POR. It was great. Have fun!

Thanks for these ideas. Send more if you can. I want it to be soooooooooooo special. We have another couple meeting us there at Disney for the day. Does anyone know if the Hiltion can do anything EXTRA special for him? Can I have a Disney cake sent to our room? I have seen some really special cakes here on the board. Sure wish I had found this site months ago before making ressies. Would have tried for a Disney Resort instead. Oh, well, live and live it to learn! Next time......

If you're eating at the Coral Reef you can try and have a diver scheduled to dive down by your table and hold up a "happy 55th birthday ..." sign in the window and a special menu with personal pictures made.

Here's the thread that talks about it:

I'm going to try scheduling it for my husbands birthday in November. He'll be so surprised if it works out! :goodvibes

They did this for us on our honeymoon, and it was definitely special. The personalized menu is also a cool keepsake.
