Just an FYI for anybody who might be interested. I had a $75 off $150 Restaurant.com certificate. Normally, those don't include alcohol or merchandise.

We don't drink so I asked the waitress if we could get a virgin pina colada and daiquiri (stating that I knew alcohol wasn't included). She said that the certificate applied to anything in the store - didn't matter what. We wound up getting some stuff from the gift shop as part of our $150.

I can't promise that it will always be that way, but it was for us. Can't hurt to ask up front. :thumbsup2

Would one end up paying the auto gratuity on merchandise though?

In our case, yes. We didn't want anymore food though, and the merchandise filled out the required amount. Next time, I will probably get a smaller gift certificate. I had overestimated what we would spend (thinking about appetizers, dessert, etc., and we just couldn't eat all that).
