Azaria's Make A Wish Trip, October 2009

Ok, I hope I don’t make this too long for you:

Will you have a stroller or get a free rental at the park? If so, make sure in addition to your Guest Assistance Card (GAC) that you get a stroller as a wheelchair tag. This tag will help with rides as you will go in the wheelchair entrance for most rides.

First, your party tickets get you into the park at 4:00 PM even though the party does not start until 7:00 PM.

There are special characters out that are not always out so I will start with those. In Toon Town go to the County Fair store. It is the store diagonally across from Goofy’s Barnstormer Rollercoaster. The Fairies are in here as are the princesses with their princes. When we were there it was Prince Charming and Cinderella with Aurora and Prince Phillip. Just show your card to the attendant at the front of the line and they will take you around a back way. You may have to wait a few minutes, but not whatever the current wait time shows. The princes do not arrive until 7 PM.

Then there is a candy line that takes you from Toon Town to Tomorrowland. If it is not raining, you can take this and end up at Stitch’s dance party. I have read in other reports that they are handing out Star Wars toothbrushes by the DJ booth, but we missed this. Stitch is out in his 4 arms costume. Chip and Dale were also out too.

The Villain’s Mix and Mingles are on the castle stage at 7:45, 9:00, 10:05 and 11:15. I would try to hit one of the later shows.

Hallowishes the fireworks show is at 9:30 and you want to be in front of the castle as they put lots of cool shapes via special lights on the castle that match the music selections.

There is one parade at 8:15 and one at 10:30. Be at least 15 minutes early or you will miss the headless horseman. Take lots of pictures of the pirate on the pirates float at the top. Often times it is the real Johnny Deep and only the manager at the pirates of the Caribbean would be able to tell you for sure. The handicapped seating is across from the Hall of Presidents.

You can do lots of your trick or treating towards the end of the party when it is less crowded and you will get tons of candy. The adults can trick or treat too!

You should be able to meet Abu and Genie over in Adventureland. There are several other characters there too. They sometimes include Baloo, Rafiki, and Timon.

There are special picture ops in front of the Haunted Mansion and diagonally from It’s a Small World is a Cinderella’s carriage photo op.

Pooh and Eeyore alternate with Tigger and Piglet by Pooh’s Playground. Leave that area and walk back towards Toon Town and you will see the 7 Dwarves.

There is another dance party with the Fab 5 over in Ariel’s Grotto area. The characters are really good about mingling with all of the kids and stopping for photo ops.

There are special stores that carry merchandise such as pins and t-shirts that are only available at the party.

Then ride rides between walking from one area to another. Let me know if I provided too much information or if I can answer any additional questions.

Have fun and take lots of pictures of all of the decorations. I wish I had taken more! My trip report has lots of pictures from the party. There is also a map of the party at: http://www.wdwinfo.com/holidays/halloween.htm

Do you mind if I put this whole thing on the Wish Trippers thread??

This is a GREAT overview of the party!

Hurray! Someone from Cinderellas' Royal Table called me back and said they have room for our family to join them! Our lunch reservation is at 2:30, right after our reservation at BBB at 12:30. This does put a small dent in our plan to see the Celebrate Dreams Come True Parade at 3:00 though, which we thought would be a "must". Oh well, we can try to see it another day or just miss it. I didn't want to be picky about the time since they were accommodating us on such late notice.

Today I am trying to get a good list going on what we need to take. I'm also running each day (am-pm) in my head so I can plan bags, what to wear, snacks, etc. Spent last night researching on the boards and there are so many great tips and things I hadn't even of thought of taking (like stamps for postcards, ear plugs, getting a stroller for Aidan, fun for the plane ride, etc.).

Two more days!!!!!!!

Thank you so much for the info on MNSSH! No, it was not too much info, the more info I have the better off we are.
Odd question but can you tell me what kind of candy they hand out? My son Aidan has a SEVERE allergy to peanuts and can't have anything that contains peanuts, or has been near or around peanuts. If they hand out candy with nuts, it would be a good heads up, and I can warn him ahead of time. He is only 5 and just beginning to understand that peanuts are deadly for him.

Thanks again for all the info!

First Hurray for Cinderella's Royal Table! princess:

The candy is a mix of things. There are plenty of candies with nuts including Payday, Snickers, Bit O Honey and some others. They also hand out raisins from a different tub that is not mixed with the candy. There are now and laters, Smarties, Carmels and suckers and many different kinds of candy. Some of the little orange balls wrapped in plastic that don't have a name are peanut. You can always ask a cast member when they give you the candy. Mine love raisins so one full bag of ours was just raisins and the kids are still enjoying them! :wizard:

WOW.

I am totally amazed that you have a way to eat at CRT! That is awesome!

How did you do that?? PM me details! :) Maybe I can share that with future families having issues getting that coveted ressie.

I think since you guys will see parades while you are there...it should be ok to miss that one. And you may catch the end of it. :confused3 But either way - CRT really trumps that!

Oh wow...I didn't know just how lucky we are/were to get that CRT reservation! I don't think I realized how hard it is to get. A few days ago I tried online to get a reservation for 10/26 and none were available. So yesterday I called to schedule BBB for Azaria and asked if I could also schedule a CRT reservation. During our conversation, the CM Conrad, asked what we were celebrating and I told him it would be her 7th birthday that day, as well as a Make A Wish trip. When he looked up CRT, he said unfortunately there are no opening at CRT but he would transfer me over to CRT to see if there was anything they could do. At that point, I felt a little uncomfortable about asking any further, so I told him no, it's ok, we will go to The Crystal Palace instead. He said it was no trouble, and it wouldn't hurt to ask, and to just tell CRT the situation, then he added "not that I want to exploit your child and the situation, but they would want to know it's her birthday AND a MAW trip". I thought that was sweet of him to say, I think he felt my discomfort.
So he transferred me over and I got an answering machine. I was caught off guard at having to leave a message and must have rambled very timidly for at least 5 minutes! I even said "I'm sorry to keep rambling...my thoughts are a bit scattered right now and I may not be making any sense...if you want to call me back you can at --- ---". I felt so embarrassed when I got off the phone!

When I got the call back I explained the situation, and that I would be grateful for that day, because that would be the only day we would be at MK. She asked what time we would like and I told her about the BBB at 12:30. She suggested 2:30 so Azaria could meet Cinderella after her makeover. I said sounds good, then remembered the parade at 3! I mentioned the parade and she generously offered to put us in at 10:45 for breakfast, at first I said ok and she started to change it, then I said no, nevermind, sorry, please go back to 2:30.

So I feel very grateful that they have fit us in. Azaria does not or can not eat by mouth, she is strictly bottle fed and is on a special diet (Ketogenic Diet) for seizures. I think they are going to put her down as an infant so we are not charged for her. Very nice and appreciated, again! We just want her to have the experience of CRT, can't wait!!!

I wanted to add one more small tip for MNSSHP. Go into the Pirates of the Caribbean store and you will be greeted by a cast member with a cauldron. She will allow your kids to dig in a bucket of fake plasticy bugs to look for a gem. Your children will get to keep a bug and a gem. It is a large plastic gem. My kids are still playing with their bugs! Then there is also a trick or treat station inside the Pirate League area where you can pay to be transformed into a pirate. These two stations were neat to see. pirate:

I honestly thought I would be up REALLY early, and would have stayed up REALLY late, but I didn't do either. Woke up at 6am, Azaria woke me actually, she was so happy and grabbing at my face as if to say, "Mommy get up todays my big day"! So sweet!

So I'm as prepared as I think I will ever get. It will be a long day of traveling but by tonight around midnight, we will be at GKTW!

Your family's day for Azaria's Wish Trip has arrived! Have a safe and fun time at GKTW and the parks in Orlando. Take lots of pictures and make great family memories together. Hope you don't have to much problem with jet lag. I always feel jet lag more when I returned home when I lived in California. Have a great time!
