Awhile ago it was stated that Disney is looking into replacing Discovery Island at WDW with a POTC Dinner with Jack Sparrow. When I first heard this, my thought was that everyone was referring to Discovery Island that is now closed on the Seven Seas Lagoon by Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness. I had also heard that they were going to be using a ship or something to transport guests. It just sounded so cool to take a pirate ship over to THAT Discovery Island, which I assumed they would refurb and they could do things like treasure hunts and everything over there and end the evening with dinner with Jack Sparrow and other pirates. How cool would that be?

But much to my dissappointment, Tom Sawyer Island is also called Discovery Island and that is what they were referring too.

I went to the Discovery Island in the Seven Seas Lagoon back in 1991! You could take a launch out there from MK. It would be really cool to have a pirate ship sail out there for a pirate-themed meal! Maybe they'll think of something else to do with it?

According to our Wishes Captain, no, they're not planning ANYTHING with Discovery Island. They're letting it go back to nature. While most of the animals have been moved to Animal Kingdom (I forgot to ask about the turtles), some of the birds REFUSE to leave and still make their homes there!

No, is this true?? I had thought the same thing -- I thought it was a wonderful way to use Discovery Island in Seven Seas Lagoon while letting it remain fairly wild.

I had heard that they were changing the theming of TSI in Disneyland in California to be more pirate-related -- is it at all possible that someone put the two rumors together into one?
