Has anyone ever replaced the fabric on their awning? Mine is just over 4 years old now, and it has started coming apart. I have tried to keep it clean and protected, but the area that stays exposed when it is rolled up is coming apart.
Wondering if it is a do it your self project or not.

Also I found this nifty item on the Dometic website. Does anyone have this?

I just replaced my fabric and roller tube. It cost me about 300. the hardest part was getting the fabric attached to the rail on the mh. After I got that part done (took about 10 min.) the rest was easy. Just attach to the arms and you are done.

Thanks for your input. I am going to keep taping it with white duct tape for now. But I am afraid it will probably come apart in a good wind. Then I guess I will try to do it myself.

I have a bent roller tube and could probably replace my fabric as well. Where did you get you parts. Did you have any problems having the tube shipped to you?

We just ordered ours on Friday and should be here by Wednesday. We are in Ct. so we use a local RV parts/dealer shop. But we also paid about 300 for the roller and the fabric. It was only about a 50.00 difference if we just bought the fabric and not the tube, but we figured for the extra 50 it was worth it. The guy at the store said they were pretty easy to install, and not worth the 65.00 they would charge if they put it in..........an honest salesman........imagine that!!!!

Have you tried using Gorilla Tape rather than duct tape? I know Home Depot carries it in the paint department. This tape is awesome, but I believe the only color is black. Good luck.

Thanks I will check it out. White matches the area that is coming apart. The awning appears to be 2 sheets of material pressed on top of each other. In some spots it is separating, and in others it is cracking and leaving holes. Tape is only a temporary solution for sure.

I got mine at Giant Recreation World. It is a regional RV supply and sales company here in florida. The tube was shipped to them and then I just put it in my F-150 drove home and put it on it about 30 min. max.

Very easy to do. Like I said earlier hardest part was getting the spline in the trac. You will need at least 2 people for this job. Depends on the awning size. Mine is 16" so my 17 yo son and I put it on.
