Awesome stay at SSR!!!!

May I please ask you for some more details about the slide? I love slides! But if they are dark, especially pitch dark, I just don't do it. So is this one pitch dark and is it enclosed? Can you sit up right from the start? thanks.

Another Big Thank You for your report.
As you can see our time is ticking down until we are there.
I am already getting into Disney mode (well then again when am I not in Disney mode). Ok it is just getting worse ;-) :Pinkbounc

Glad to hear about the Q&C Vouchers.
After seeing the prices of food do you think the vouchers are a good deal at Artist Palette or are you breaking even??

We will have two teens with us this trip - I see a lot of late nights at DTD this trip!!

Thanks again.

Liferbabe,

Glad you enjoyed your trip to SSR, our family is so pumped about our upcoming stay!
Thanks for your report!

our trip in July.
Did you have any problems with mosquitos?
So glad you had a fun filled trip.

The more I read about SSR the more I wish that I didn't have to wait until Dec.

Slide-The slide is pretty open. It is concealed in the natural rock formation so you only see the opening from the pool deck. You can sit up but I just kind of flailed the whole way LOL!

Mosquitos-Either they just don't like me or there were very few around. I spent late nights (past midnight) sitting in a rocking chair overlooking DTD and then sat by the quiet pool and not one bite. Although I read reports about mosquitos at WDW I didnt wear repellent and I did not have a problem at all.

QC Vouchers-Yes you will save money using the QC Vouchers at Artist Pallete. I saved my receipts, but these prices are approx.:

GrabnGo Chef Salad w/dressing $6.89
20 oz. Bottled OJ $2.99
Choc. Cake $3.56
Fruit Cup $2.79

Total with Tax $17.00

The most expensive entree is around $9.

The Walk to DTD- I have to agree about it being a very pretty walk. For the special MH event, SSR provided rides over on Golf Carts. The path that is open is the path behind the Carriage House. It is partially tree'd and takes you over a bridge thru the LBV golf course. It takes you right to Cirque Du Soleil. No streets to cross. We did walk back from the events and it took less than 10 min. to the Carriage House. I'd add another 5-10 min. if staying in Congress Park. My boys will be ecstatic when they are old enough to go by themselves.

The Parks-It was hot and crowded. Definitely needed fastpass. I did WWTBAM-Play It! for the first time. How cool is that game? No way my kids would have sat still for that one.

I rented a car from National (another positive experience) so I did not use the busses. They did have a stop in Congress Park, as I am sure they will for each section as well as right across from HRS Pool.

Dh and I are returning to Orlando in Sept. for a wedding and this morning I changed our ressie from BCV to SSR. I told him he has to try it!

Can't wait to try BCV this trip and then back to SSR!

1. I have read that the distances between the buildings was long. But, what about the distance between the buildings and the pool?

2. I also have read rumors that the boat transportation will take you further that DTD and OKW? True?

Silly question, but are you sure you're on the 3rd floor ? Generally I'd expect 3712 to be 3rd floor.

Very nice detailed report! Maybe someday I will be able to break away from BWV to try SSR. I bet my DD will love the little slide there.

How nice you can sit out on your balcony and listen to live music from DTD. Sounds wonderful. We will definately have to check it out in Sept when we are there.

So you just got back and you are going in 2 days?!?! Wow - lucky you!!!

Yes, the numbering of the rooms threw me also. Marcus at the front desk did a very good job of explaining to me and I still walked around in a circle! LOL

Not sure how the rest of the numbering will work for the other bldgs, but bldg #16 in Congress Park is numbered from 25-28. This means the first floor is 25, 2nd floor is 26, 3rd floor is 27 and 4th floor is 28.

I know the third floor rooms were numbered sequentially. I was on the 3rd floor, therefore 2712.

So you just got back and you are going in 2 days?!?! Wow - lucky you!!!

We had already booked our trip when MH was announced, so I took a solo trip for MH. These 4 days back at work are excruciating! LOL

I didnt think the bldgs were that far apart at all. There are nice courtyards between the bldgs and they are spaced nicely which adds to the balcony experience. The bldgs are angled to give the best views which also will make them look further apart. I cant see it taking longer than 90 seconds to walk to the next bldg.
From my bldg in Congress Park to the HRS Pool, it takes about 5 min. to walk. There is a sidewalk and it is completely landscaped. If you have a car, you can also park at the DVC Preview Center lot which is centrally located to all the common areas and boat dock.

I hope a system this stupid isn't just another way Disney tried to imitate Saratoga,NY .

Great review. We had the same experiences you did. We also had a 3rd floor studio, but it didnt face DD (2732 I think). Glad you had a great trip, we loved SSR!

Thanks for such a great in depth report on SSR. I loved meeting you at MH. I'll always remember that my first trip on Mission Space was with you!

Tricia

Liferbabe, thank you for sharing so many wonderful details about your stay at the Saratoga Springs Resort. We liked what we saw at DSSR, too. We enjoyed sharing the Illuminations cruise with you & others last week. Wait until you see SOG!!

First, I don't think there is anything wrong with Disney trying to have their Saratoga Springs Resort "imitate" Saratoga Springs, NY. Secondly, I would think a numbering system like this might be confusing initially, but it would be would be good security measures for guests.

Judith, relax, I was joking. I just never figured out how to use the little smiley faces, (although Nick has sent me several sites). All I was doing was busting on Saratoga NY, making fun of the way they number their rooms, not the style of their buildings.

I could care less how the rooms are numbered, I just find it very odd that Disney would break away from a standard method that always made sense. No harm intended.

Now Tricia, that is the sweetest thing! You are gonna make me cry! It was a pleasure keeping up with you! LOL

JudithM I had a great time on the cruise too!! Cant wait to see the photos! It was great meeting you and DH.

What a whirlwind week that was! I am still smiling!

Remember..........what happens in WDW stays in WDW!;) ;)

P.S. Could someone please enlighten me on the numbering system used? What part of SSNY uses that system. Im brushing up on my trivia for WWTBAM! LOL

We had the same experiences you did. We also had a 3rd floor studio, but it didnt face DD (2732 I think). Glad you had a great trip, we loved SSR!

Eporter, what was your view? Could you see any of DTD or the lake?

Maybe they are hoping us Disney Internet fans will not be able to figure out the system and request certain room numbers. Little do they know the determination of this group, :)
