I bought two 24 packs last year, right after school started, on clearance at Wal-Mart for $1 each. Same brand, 48 pencils for $2.

I am a teacher and a mom and these are the only pencils I will buy and buy for my own children to take to school.

Just looked in my daughters' bookbags and realized that the teacher must have pooled the supplies we brought in because both of my daughters have the cheapest pencils imaginable in their bags and I didn't buy those.

It irritates me as a mom that I spend the extra $ to buy supplies for my kids and they end up having to use something of lower quality that I did not purchase.

So- I'll spend my days sharpening these cheapo pencils down to nubs while someone else's child is enjoying a Ticonderoga pencil that is difficult to break.

Ok rant over. Parents- please don't buy cheapo pencils!!! Ticonderogas are the best.

This happened this year with us too.. I was told to by 4x6 wide ruled index card, only place I found was at Office depot and they were pricey . I bought anyway. Guess what my kid comes home with his definitions written on...COLLEGE RULED, at his age they need the wide ruled UGHHH... I bought more , put in his booksack in ziplock bag told him give back . Plus I had him rewrite his definitions , I couldn't read them UGHHH .
