I got an e-mail from DU today that I am saving an additional $940 on our October cruise because of new FL resident specials. I had almost given up hope there would be any price reduction so I was very pleasantly surprised.

That is excellent news! My DH and I keep saying we're going to retire to FL just for the Disney deals for residents!:earsgirl:

Living in FL definitely has it perks.

My sister who is sailing with us in Sept. and who lives in Fl. also got a reduction! Although we own a house in Fl. we do not qualify as we do not live there.Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I belive you must be a RESIDENT (meaning you live at least 6 mo and 1 day) in Florida to qualify.

What if your trip is already paid off? I am a Florida resident who sails on October 5 and would love some ship credit!

I just tried calling and they are closed until MONDAY. I also called Disney and they said I would be eligible to receive a $260.00 refund. Sure wish the TA was open so I could get this done today ;-)

This board is great! Thanks everyone!

You are correct unless it has suddenly changed (I wish!). I spend about 7 months of the year in ID and 5 in FL. I am not eligible for FL resident discounts if going solo. However, IF there is an FL resident in your stateroom, EVERYONE in that stateroom is eligible for the FL resident discount. At least that is what DCL told me.

I copied this from the Disney Website in an area where you can purchase WDW tickets online. I believe it's the definition that Disney uses for a 'Florida Resident'. I couldn't find it on the DCL area, but I believe the policy is used throughout the Disney company.

Here it is:
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Proof of Florida residency is required -- You must provide any one of the following:

Florida driver's license
Florida state-issued ID card (must have Florida address)
Current utility statement with your name and Florida address along with a corresponding picture ID
Florida voter's registration card with corresponding picture ID
A college ID for a Florida college
Florida based Military ID

---------------------------------------------------------------------

I found it here:
http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wa.../tickettypeindex?id=TKTFLResAnnualPassTktType

hope that helps

Yes, that matches my info. The only thing I would add is, as I mentioned, that DCL told me only ONE guest in a stateroom needs to be an FL resident (showing proof) for ALL in THAT stateroom to get the discount. That was as of 6 months ago.

I think we have a top bunk available for a Florida resident...anyone free on Sept 15? :teeth:

Gillian...LOL

Relling Twin and Taswira...In which state do you hold your driver's license. If it's Florida you ARE a resident.

Because my DH is a retired Air Force fighter pilot who chooses to remain in Idaho, my driver's license is Idaho in order to maintain military spouse ID from the airbase in the state of his residence. I co-own two homes in FL, but my spouse does not. For those reasons and that I only spend about 5 months of the year in FL, I maintain Idaho residency.

What dates do the FL Res discounts apply? Would sure love to get a refund check too!

I checked on this once before, maybe 2 months ago and the FL Res discounts then were for summer, maybe July, Aug, early Sept or something like that. I guess they have extended this promotion if it applies in Oct!

I am pretty sure if you have a FL drivers license you can get the FL resident rate.

I am available Sept. 15th. LOL

Thanks Taswira!

That clears it up for me....We're on a 4 day on 9/22 so I guess we don't qualify.

I wish we would qualify... We are going on the Nov 17th Pin Trading cruise... but if the saving were worth it I would change and use the extra money to just buy more pins.....

so what are the dates again???? It may be worth it to go ahead and book the 7 night cruise I want for next year...

Hmmm. The 7-night winter rates for FL res. are no longer on the TA site. Yesterday was the only time I saw it and it was straight from the site.

Fall dates are:
"7-night rate valid for most sailings commencing Oct. 5 through Nov. 16, 2002"

There was a DIsney Cruise line add in Today's Travel section in The Orlando Sentinel.

7 night rates valid for most sailings commencing 9/14-11/16.

Good Luck. Its a great deal. Better than my original cruise which we purchased on fall fantasy rates.

That's GREAT! For some reason DCL is not listing the September dates right now (today) as FL resident discount dates on their TA site. I'm beginning to think their webmaster is playing games this weekend!
