What ARE "gas points"? I do not understand the concept.


I want to buy more gift cards, I spend $300 a week sometimes on groceries, so it is a no-brainer. Even if I buy mostly Disney gift cards for my October trip.

Gas points: for every $100 (I think) you spend using you loyalty card, you get $.10 off a gallon of gas. Spend $200, get $.20 off; $300, get $.30 off. In addition, there are special purchase items in the weekly ads. If you buy the right number of any combination you get 20, 30, 40, sometimes more bonus points.

I am so glad we have the $15 deal. It is SO generous it barely makes any sense to me. $15 for every $50 is so much. Or at least one would think you have to spend $50 or something to apply the coupon.

Sorry to post AGAIN.

But I went to get more Disney gift cards tonight. After I paid for the first 2, the cashier asks me if I want to start applying the $15 coupons to my new gift card purchases. I was like, "WHAT?" I said, "don't I have to use them on food?" He said no.

So basically, you can buy the first gift card for $50, get your $15 coupon. then for the 2nd one, it is $50, and you can apply the 1st $15 coupon, and pay only $35, and you still get ANOTHER $15 coupon. So when you are "done" you are only left with one $15 coupon, not a big stack.

PS I just looked at one of my left over coupons, and it SAYS "cannot be redeemed on gift cards". Ooppps, I never saw that. Hmm. I will ask next time, and if they do not let me, I will just use them on food.

OP - Thanks for reminding me! I bought a $50 Disney gift card there on Monday and received the $50 coupon. I have to get my Dad a PetSmart gift card, a lightbulb went off when I read this post! Thanks!

I am so glad we have the $15 deal. It is SO generous it barely makes any sense to me. $15 for every $50 is so much. Or at least one would think you have to spend $50 or something to apply the coupon.

In our area, we can use our Stop & Shop store card at any Shell gas station. Gas points are good for 30 days, I believe. I generally get 20-30 cents off per gallon. I'm jealous of the $15 deal! That's such a great deal!

Stop and Shop has their own gas stations.


They have recently started advertising that a gas station chain is accepting their points (via the loyalty card), but I can't remember which one, I think it's either Shell or Sunoco.

Original OP here. I would be grabbing those Disney ones too!! Too bad our trip was 2 weeks ago. I have been back twice more for teacher gifts and now I'm making my next few months Bday gift list up. At this rate I'll be grocery shopping for free next week!!!

I have 10 $15 coupons right now to use, I have used a few already.

I will buy more Disney ones, most likely. When I check in at Boardwalk Vilas, I will hand them over....

I also went to buy a bunch of Disney ones figuring I'd use the coupons for groceries eventually. The cashier offered to ring them up separately and use the $15 coupons for the next card. I got several $50 gift cards for $35 each. I called Disney to add dining plan today and used my gift cards to pay. Saved LOTS!! Thank you so much OP!!

Use this link to find gas stations in your area that take gas points.

Catalinas almost never can be used on gift cards, so you can't "roll" this deal. Even if your store allows it, if you read the wording, it's not allowed.

Which is ok, because we get the $15 Catalina coupons here. The store is wiped out of so many gift cards though. Today I redeemed 3 of the coupons, separate orders of course. Like someone posted elsewhere, it seems easy to do this when using the self checkout. You can hit sub total to see where you are. Otherwise I feel bad holding up the line while I pay 3-4 times, with the split grocery orders.

This may sound bizarre, but could I grab a few shells of gift cards from say, Walgreens, and pay for them at Stop and Shop? I guess it is shady though. I am not even sure if the SKUs match up from one store to another. They are just empty shells, that i am sure Walgreens did not PAY for, and they have plenty available, but it still seems like a weird thing to do...... I wanted the AMC movie theatre giftcards. No flames, it was just a question!

This was such a great deal. I needed some visa gcs, Carabbas, and Barnes and Noble. I started with the Visas(x4) and then paid for the others with the visa and got 120.00 in catalinas.

Yes, I have also been taking advantage of this deal.....Capri Sun is on sale 5/$10....buy 7 get $3 OFF INSTANTLY.....SO.....I bought 9 cases.......for $15.00 total...and ended up paying NOTHING after the 15.00 coupon!!!!!!!

Another deal....Arcadia spring water is also on sale...24pk for 2.99....I bought 5 cases of that......they took the 15.00 coupon...again, my balance was "0" !!!!!

One more....Kids cuisine on sale this week $2.00 a piece...I normally don't let my kids have this, but as a special treat, ok.....buy 8, save $3 INSTANTLY......SO..... I was able to get 9 boxes of this for NOTHING after $15.00 coupon......

Today is the last day for this sale for all of these items AS WELL as the special gift card promo...I am thrilled I have a store in walking distance...headed back ther today !!

Definitely not okay. If you buy something at S&S, it should be found within the store.

Yes, you are right. I just lost my head for a moment. I got my fair share from this promotion! I can look later today and see if there are any left that I could use, DH is thinking Home Depot. Using the $15 coupons by July 7 is easy for us, we spend $250-300 week on food.

My 3 cash nights at BW in October are now "paid for". I wanted to have the trip paid off by the time we went anyway.

This was the best promotion I have ever seen at a supermarket.
