Award banquet - What to wear?

We received a letter yesterday from the local chapter of the National Football Foundation - DS has been selected as his high school's Scholar/Citizen/Athlete of the Year!

We're invited to a banquet next month at a local country club honoring the selected students from each of the area's 22 high schools. The Foundation is providing tuxedos for the honorees at no charge.

DH has a black suit, but I don't have a clue what to wear. Since I've lost a good bit of weight, I don't have any dresses that fit anymore (my office is very casual). Would dressy black slacks and a sparkly/sequined top be appropriate? Just a pants suit? Help!

I think I'd be careful about sparkly sequins. That might be too much. You can never go wrong with a black pantsuit and pearls--that can go either way.

Definitely suit and ties for the guys.
