Avoiding The parking Fee at Universal Orlando.

We were dropped off at Disney (by a member of our party who wasn't coming with us, not by a cab) four times on our last trip in March. We were never charged a fee--we just told the parking attendant we were going to the drop-off area and were directed through. The member of our party doing the chauffeuring was similarly not charged on the way in to pick us up. We have been doing this for years, since we only rent one car and people have different activities for the day, and have NEVER had to pay a fee of any kind.

Is the cab fee really just for taking a cab? That seems sort of silly.

During one of our conventions at in Orlando we were missing our usual teacher who takes us toa ll the places like downtown disney. We kept getting lost and ending up at Epcot... They let us drive through no problem. We didnt have to pay a cent. I dont see how that would be any different than being dropped off.

And to comment on universal. The parking situation is hard enough at the hotel. I understand why they have to charge as they already have cramped lots, but why not include that in the hotel feel. When I pay 15 bucks to park then can't find a spot I tend to get a litttle! angry!

When you were ending up at Epcot, were you in a taxi? They don't charge normal vehicles to drop off, just cabs.

I'd rather they not include the parking fee in the cost of the room because most of the time I don't have a car. I'd rather not be paying an extra $15/night even if it is hidden in my room fee. At Disney with the "free parking" and "free magical express" those deluxe rooms certainly are pricey. I'd rather they reduce those room rates and make those people who actually use the parking and magical express pay for them.

If you can't find a parking spot at Universal, just tell the guys at the entrance and they will valet park for you at self park rates.

The cab parking fee is just for the cabs. Guest services told me that since the cabs were making money on them by being able to pick up another fare after they dropped someone off, they were charging a parking fee. What Disney doesn't seem to realize is that the cabs include the parking fee in your trip rate and don't pay it themselves.

Seriously? (about the valet) I never knew that.

I understand your concern for the parking fee I just hate how they nickel and dime us for everything. 15 bucks a night for a microwave, or fridge. 15 dollars a night for parking. Pay for internet (although I have since learned about youfirst). No breakfast bar.

I just wish I got more for staying on site.... Then again that express pass is pretty valuable. Blast universal and their convincing.

They can nickel and dime us because they are onsite hotels. It's what they do best.
