avoiding sun exposure

Not for your sons hand, but in general for your family if you want sun protection, umbrella's are great instant shade. Very light and they fold down small. Saves me for parades and such. Just be aware of people around you and close it up once the parade starts so you don't block others views.

another easy idea would be to just buy a long sleeved 'rash guard' type shirt in a larger size than needed and simply sew in some elastic or drawstring down at the hands.
Or just make a hole for the thumb in the too long sleeve :)

Look at the website for Sun Precautions. They carry special sun protective clothing.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. Our son just got his cast off and his incisions and skin graft has healed really well. The doctor said he will be fine with just sunscreen for touring the parks. I'm still planning to use a rashguard sleeve, especially in the waterpark areas. I don't trust sunscreen to stay on well enough on a hand.

This is going to sound odd, bear with me please. I don't know what they call them but they are the thin arm length gloves women wear with eveningwear.

They make good sun clothing for hands and arms. I don't tolerate the sun very well and my skin reacts badly to sun screen, yet I had a job that took me to a far away desert and stuck me in the sun with my hands exposed for hours and hours. Won't get into that ... but I learned to dress like a Bedouin.

A few year ago we took my granddaughter to WDW after an attack by a dog left her with severe facial scars. Dr instructed us to keep her out of the sun and a Guest Assistance Card was of no help - it allowed her to wait in a shaded area if one was available - very few attractions had a shaded area available. After many years of laser scar revision treatments she is still suppose to avoid the sun - it can make scars that remain turn a deep purple that never lightens. We kept her in a stroller with a canopy and used light-weight baby blankets held on with clips to shield her from the sun. Also avoided being out from about 1-5 during the day. Best of luck and healthy healing for your little one! :wizard:
