:sad2: To make a long story short BEWARE of proflowers.com. They have this scam that goes on your credit card. DW sent a nice flower arrangement to my grandmother who broke her leg in Oct. It appears that they gave our card number to "EASY SAVER" that charges $14.95 a month :scared1: They claim that you sign up when you place your flower arrangement. The search boards are full of people talking about this scam. 5 X $14.95. YIKES. Just thought I would warn you. By the way. The 1-800 number on the charge i just a recording that allows zero access to a real person. I now have a dispute started with Chase Disney card. :sad2:

WOW! We've used them quite a bit through our office and have NEVER had that happen before. Must be something they've recently changed.

From what I could see on the internet, your DH unwittingly signed up for Easy Saver while placing the order. He can email ProFlowers and they will tell him how to cancel it.

Its the buyer who signed up for it...by not reading the information on the order section carefully enough.

My own DH ended up mistakenly signing up for this by accepting a "discount" offer from a different merchant (not ProFlowers...there are other merchants who have this as well). I caught it though on our very first CC statement while his 'membership' was still in the trial period; they had charged $1.95 processing fee which I questioned. The trial period was 30 days, and the information said you had that time to cancel before the $14.95 was charged.

It was actually VERY easy to cancel by making a phone call, and I have not been charged anything since.

If you've already reached the $14.95 stage, then you must have missed the initial set-up charge and gone right through the trial period.

I fell for their "free shipping offer". Turns out you have to sign up with a 3rd party and then get the offer through them. Not what I expected for free shipping. I did order as I had a free gift card to use but paid for shipping. FedEx dropped the ball and the order was 2 days late. When I contacted ProFlowers they very quickly (15minutes) refunded all the shipping charges, not just the expedited fee I used to get the order there faster. I ordered cookies so not a big deal that the order was late.

I just ordered from them last week without incident. Internet buyers need to be extra savvy due to the influx of "special offers" from third party companies. I do think it's kind of sneaky, but you just need to take an extra minute and really read all the fine print.

I'll have to check to see about the extra charge, up until now that wasn't my beef with them. They don't seem to be up front with the fact that the flowers are delivered with "some assembly required". Now, if I had known that I would not have placed an order for my 95 yr. old aunt but I might have ordered for another reason/person.

Will I order from them again, I might BUT I now I know that you have to arrange your own flowers. My aunt did say they were beautiful & she loved them. I just wish I had known they had to be arranged, I would have had them delivered to my house, arranged them & then delivered them to her myself.

DH usually orders my flowers from them, we've only had problems with them once, but that was a shipping issue.

This isn't a scam, it's on the receipt page when you check out, if you don't read it and just click "continue" or something like that you end up signing up for it. They're really just taking advantage of people who rush through clicking without reading.

I ordered from them once and saw the shipping "deal", knew enough not to click on it. My husband ordered from them, and swears he didn't click on it, but however it happened we were charged. We put everything on our charge and pay it off at the end of the month, but in going over the bill, I guess I thought it was his "charge" and he thought it was my "charge". So we missed it. For 18 months!!!! Yep, $14.95 for 18 months. They did take care of it, but it wasn't easy. So while technically it isnt' a scam, if you google it, it seems like an awful lot of people fall for it. They even did a story on it on the Today show not too long ago. And while I am not sure it was Pro Flowers, it was a company like that and they know what they are doing is wrong. They are hoping (like in our case) that you don't catch it, and that is pretty much not a nice business model!

I agree. The fact that this is even available on their site is sufficient reason for me not to use them. They're trying to trap people who don't realize what it's about. Not ethical in my opinion.

Also avoid FTD.com too. You're better off calling a florist in the town where the flowers will be delivered. Not really cheaper but you'll get a better arrangement & I suspect much much better service.

I ordered flowers thru FTD.com for my mother for mothers day a few years ago. However, I didn't know she wasn't doing well; she was in a nursing home. This was on a Sunday (or could have been Saturday) I ordered. The following day, Monday, I found out she'd passed away. So I contacted FTD to cancel the order & was told there was nothing they could do, that the order had already been sent. WTH??? How could the order already be on the way? Mothers day wasn't until the following Sunday. I was so upset I was seeing red so to speak.

I called the nursing home & told them my flower order couldn't be cancelled & they could do what they wanted with the arrangement.

ANyway, so sorry for your problems with flower ordering, OP, & I hope the situation will be fixed to your satisfaction.

My DH did the same thing by accident. Looking back at the transaction he discovered how he mistakenly signed up for it. That's a mistake he won't make again.

I love proflowers flowers! They are very pretty, good quality, and last a long time. We will definitely use them again.....next time we will be a little more careful with what boxes we check and uncheck. ;)

I'm a big fan of 1800flowers.com I've ordered five arrangements in the last couple of months...all have been fresh and beautiful. And once you put in one order, you get TONS of coupons/free shipping offers, etc. They come in emails with a code to use, no "sneaky" tactics...They also have a Rewards program where you earn points based on how much you've spent. I've saved at least $75 with them.

Thank you so much for posting this! My husband sent me some flowers last week from there, and I asked him about this. Sure enough, he got caught by it. Fortunately, it was easy enough to cancel. I will just keep an eye out on my CC statement to make sure. Thanks again!

I came home today and there was a box from Pro Flowers on the doorstep. I thought it was weird because I have always told my husband that I think that buying fresh flowers is a waste of money. (They are lovely, but I just feel like we have things that I would prefer to spend our money on.)

I looked at the label and sure enough, they were for a neighbor. Not sure who made the mistake, but they weren't for our address or me! We walked the flowers over to the neighbor and solved the problem. They were for the teenaged girl who lives there and I am sure she was thrilled!;)

Okay, I do understand this - they don't actually state that the flowers don't come in an arrangement, but it's strongly indicated by one of the vase options being "no vase".

Now, I don't know if this same option is attached to all purchases, I only checked a random few. But the fact that there's no reduction in price when one chooses the "no vase" option is, at least to me, an important piece of information.

They claim that you sign up when you place your flower arrangement

Yep, if you don't read what you're clicking on. Then you certainly do sign up for it. And the sites I've ordered through (shutterfly has a similar program) show the phone number to call to cancel very clearly as you go through and read what you're clicking through.

From what I could see on the internet, your DH unwittingly signed up for Easy Saver while placing the order. He can email ProFlowers and they will tell him how to cancel it.

Yep.

From the FAQ:

How are the flowers packaged?

Wrapped in cellophane, our flowers are shipped in a specially designed gift box to ensure freshness during delivery. Flowers are arranged as shown in our descriptions. Also enclosed is your personal message, plant food and a care letter outlining the best way for the recipient to cut the stem ends and transfer to a vase. (A vase may be added for a surcharge to most of our arrangements during the ordering process.)

Do the flowers come in a vase?

Usually, we ship the bouquets without vases. However, if you prefer to have a vase shipped along with the flowers, you can buy one for an additional charge. You can choose a vase to buy when you are ordering the bouquet.

TODAY the vases are free. On the top of the page: "Receive a FREE Glass Vase or a discounted premium vase with today's flower order."

I have ordered from ProFlowers many times. I have never had an issue with them. They have delivered to my home, my mother's home, our motel when we were at a wedding, etc... They are my first choice when I order flowers. With coupon codes that I search for, the price is great and the packaging is not a problem. If you can unwrap a present you can unwrap these flowers.

DH ordered me flowers from ProFlowers for Valentine's Day and scheduled to have them delivered to my office on Friday, 2/12.

Due to bizzaro weather and 12 inches of snow in the Dallas area, we came in late and closed the office early on Friday. Fed Ex attempted to deliver on Friday, but we were here.

It was "Fed Ex Home Delivery" which runs Tuesday through Saturday, so the flowers were just delivered today. I fully expected them to be dead, but they look great. I am sure if it was warm/summer this would be totally different, but I have to say I am impressed with the packaging.

Even better...Pro Flowers called DH this AM to check on his order b/c the flowers had not been delivered. He explained that weather and delivery timing were bad and that I had not yet received my flowers.

Even though weather and delivery were not their fault, they gave him a full refund and have sent me another bouquet! Now I get to have one in my office and at home. :cloud9: It smells great in here!

After reading this thread, I was a bit nervous about the flowers. So far, I do not have any complaints. DH did see the box to sign-up for the monthly thing and did opt out. (I do think that is pretty sneaky and not "above board".)

I did have to un box them and trim the stems, add the plant food and arrange them in a vase. If I was sending them as a gift, I would not want them delivered as such. I would have ordered them directly from a florist in the city of delivery. Just my 2cents!
