AVIS...The good, bad & ugly

I rent from Avis at MCO 4-5 times a year. Never a problem.

I use Avis for my business travel (company requirement). I joined their preferred service (no fee). With preferred service, you go straight to the booth in the garage where you show ID and they hand you the keys. I've rented from them at MCO about 4 times. Twice they upgraded me to an SUV, which I declined (I just wanted a regular car). I've used them in Atlanta many times, no problems. I sometimes get upgrades there.

Rented from Avis just last month (through Upromise). No problems at all. The counter lady was really nice and didn't try to hard sell insurance. We were hoping to get an Impala or similar. Rented with them because they didn't advertise a Taurus as their full size cars (we aren't fond of the Taurus--rented them twice). But we get there and they have a Hyundai Sonata or...you guessed it...a Taurus. Needless to say we took the Sonata. :)

We also rented a safety seat for my 2.5YO DS and they had them available. Looked brand new, wrapped in plastic.

So we currently have them booked again for our December trip, though if the rates don't come down we'll be cancelling and taking ME instead.

We're preferred members at AVis, too. Oftentimes it's more than the budget places, but we spent one too many times waiting in two-hour long lines at Alamo, Budget, etc.. Now, the Avis bus takes us straight to our car in Boston, which we LOVE. At MCO, you have to hike out to the garage, but it's not too bad. We had a bit of indifferent service last month at MCO, but overall, it was fine.

I've got some reward certificates I'm trying to decide where to use - I can get $400 at Avis or $400 in airfare coupons. The airfare coupons are going to be a hassle 'cause I have to buy them through my credit card company, which means I wouldn't be able to get back credit for cheaper SW Dings. So I think I'm gonna do Avis... I'd still like to stretch the $400 as far as it'll go - any idea what a good price for 10 days worth of a full size auto would be? We're just going from MCO to Nick Hotel, then back and forth to the parks. No frills needed. Could I fit two car seats in the back of a compact? :confused3 Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

We often use Avis for business and pleasure. The cars are clean, and service has always been good. Sign up for Avis 'Preferred'. It's on their web page, and it's free. Sometimes 'Preferred' members get complimentary upgrades. For additional discount codes check out www.mousesavers.com rental car page.

It can be a struggle but it should be possible. What is difficult is once you've put in one, it's hard to put in the second one because you must climb over either or both seats to get the buck done on the second one. Also, be sure your luggage will all fit in the trunk and you have little space between or below the car seats in back.
