Avis rental?

Who here has used Avis rental cars in the past?
Did you have a good experience?
We just booked a compact for $136 thru Hotwire for a week.
We've always gotten a car thru Budget and liked them.
Just wondering.

We have and were pleased. This Friday we rented Avis to drive from Miami to Key West so I wish us both luck!!!

We're booked with them too via Priceline. I'm a little worried about waiting in line. (We usually do the National and the Emerald Aisle)

I'm also interested in hearing the experiences of others..

We rented from Avis in June 2006. They were fine. No problems at all. We had reserved a full size. We got to choose from a Ford Taurus or a Hyundai Sonata. We chose the Sonata. It was an okay car. Nothing special or fancy but served our purpose (to get around town!). We had reserved through Upromise so my DS even got a little money into his Upromise account.

Avis tends to be higher than Budget or Dollar (who we've also used) but sometimes you can find a cheaper deal. Not very often though.

We also did the "dreaded" car seat rental through them. That turned out fine too. They had a whole little room in the garage stocked with car seats. The one they gave us was wrapped in plastic and looked brand new. No complaints here.

I've only had positive experiences from Avis in Orlando and I wouldn't book anyone else. Until our last trip, we weren't "special" members or anything and we still never waited in line.

I don't think it's ever taken me more than 10 minutes to go from getting my luggage to loading my car. I always rent a Grand Am and always end up with a Grand Prix or something like that.

I do feel more at ease renting thru Avis.
We land around 6pm on the 17th so hopefully we won't have too much of a wait.
Now, if only I can stand to wait 16 MORE DAYS!!!!

Why don't you sign up for Avis Preferred? We get dropped of right at our car...never any waiting in line at Avis when you are preferred!

As far as I know, if you're using Priceline, you can't tag your membership to your reservation and won't receive any frequent flyer miles, etc. for the rental.
