Does anybody have this particular chip in their pets?

We adopted a great little dog last week. he's already been to the vet and had his shots along with the microchip in case he gets lost. I'm trying to figure out how to get registered with AVID as his owner. Our Vet said until we change it she will be the one on record with the company. I'm going through the site and its not terribly helpful. The only thing I'm finding is the PETrac program. Is this what we have to do?

TIA

And while on the pet subject. Who has pet insurance? Good idea or bad?

There is some phone number you have to call on AVID. I agree, their site is not user-friendly or offers info on how their program even works.

My kitty has an Avid chip. it was implanted at the pound 7 yrs ago, and I still have not gotten around to getting the darn thing registered.

Elisa Warren [Elisa.Warren@avidid.com] Email her. She set me up when we got a dog registered to someone else. She just needed a copy of something from the prev owner stating they are not the owner anymore.

(also pettrac@avidid.com ) But Elisa is who did mine. Even called me at 8 pm to let me know it was done.

Is there an extra fee? The pound put my kitty's chip in, so I don't know if there is now a registration fee or if all that was included when I got her years ago. (She's been a total indoor cat all this time, so I haven't been too worried about losing her.)

Yes there is a fee unless it was done as part of your adoption of her. I think it's 20 for new registration and 6 for updates (or you can buy more at a time if you have more pets for less money). If you can PM me I can email you the PDFs they had me use (if you want them).

Here's the numbers listed on their email to me:
