Avg Cost of Food for 4 days in park??

That Thunder Falls place smells terrific when you walk past there. Here's my question:

What's better- Thunder Falls or Flame tree?

we did a split trip 2 weeks ago, 5 days Universal, 7 WDW. We are a family of 4, DH can eat a LOT, DS/15 is a hot dog/chicken finger guy, DD/20 is a grazer( smaller stuff throughout the day) and I am your typical 3 meals a day. We brought food for the room for breakfast ( tho I did not eat in the morning 4 days as doing FJ and I get motion sickness) we were on site and had a cooler for milk. the places we ate at Citywalk were:
Nascar $68 ( forgot to use our AAA there :headache:)
Margharitaville $79 used AAA
Ice cream $18 USED AAA

In parks we brought grapes from room/groceries, goldfish, some poptarts, whatever we had from the room that we felt like carrying) and we got cups of ice EVERYWHERE! My kids love slurpees so we dropped a small fortune on those ( and they are NOT included in AAA)
Only TS we ate at was:
Bula Bar and Grill at Royal Pacific $42 ( does not take AAA)
Mythos $52 ( drank water, but all 4 had huge entrees)( also, not doggie bag/boxes here, so do not order more than you think you can eat)
the rest of the time we did counter service, can't remember each place, but basically the pizza/burger /hot dog route, did get chinese at one place, but would notrecommend it...spent under 65 a day for 4 people.
At WDW we spent more, I noticed right away that we were spending say, 35 for each counter service vs 30 at Universal. We followed the same cups of ice plan, brought some snacks in...actually we found ourselves spending a LOT of time getting ice cups, lol...and those slurpees!
TS we ate in WDW were the Fountain in the Dolphin ( 20% AAA disocunt) ate there 3 x's, no bill over $30
1900 Park Fare..LOVED this, total was $125 incl tip
the rest was counter service...and we stayed under $80 a day...but we did hit the mainstreet bakery for dinner one night ( best random dinner choice ever, lol)
Sunshine seasons at Epcot, was more expensive than I remembered.
Overall, we found WDW to be higher for similar food..by say 10%. With the heat, we were eating at all weird times, getting full from ice and slurpees...but did not buy a lot of pop..I had juice in recloseable bottles that we woud pour just enough for flavor into the ice cups...was a good refresher. It averaged 98-99 ( heat index much higher) when we were there and no rain, so it was hot and that affected out eating. I had alloted $100 a day( including groceries we purchased on arrival) so was happy we stayed in that budget. Meal Deal woudl have been a waste for us for sure. One place we did not eat at was Dagwoods, which we should have as we should have gone a non-fried route one day and there sandwiches looked really good.

Thanks for all the replies. Since the park closes at 7 when we will be there I'm thinking we may not want to waste the last hour or so getting food that we would eat after we leave. So meal deal probably isn't a good idea based on that alone. Looks like only 3 places in IOA and 3 in US are where it can be used. Oh well, it was a thought :)

We never use the meal deal. We usually get a slice of pizza for lunch and a bottle of water to share, then a meal in City Walk to end. Our daily food budget for the two of us is $50 including tax, tips and cocktails :thumbsup2

I didn't get the meal deal as I don't eat burgers or chicken so there were no choices for me. I did eat at the cafe in marvel land and got a pizza and drink which were good. The pizza slice was huge and filled me up. That is on the meal deal so if oyu have a pizza eater it might pay for itself.

Cheap drinks
ask for ice water or just a cup of ice and let it melt
bring your own water in (I brought in 4 bottles each day with me and still bought 1 or 2 when I got there)
for pop buy the souvenir cup not the meal deal drink
the cup cost 6.99 and has 79 cent refills (share it with your family and share even more)

Citywalk is very close to the parks and is easy to walk to. I went there for lunch 2 days just to cool down. I ate at pastamore and my meal only cost about 10 with tax and tip. tasty and filling

Good Luck!!

If you want a really good cheap lunch, have the volcano nachos at Margaritaville. When we were there last, the FOUR of us ordered ONE of them (with chicken) and there were still leftovers.

YMMMMMMM!!!! I'm thinking with the parks closing at 7pm each night while we are there that we will be going to Citywalk in the evenings. :)

Another excellent and cheap meal is Sal's Deli at the Portofino. Their wood fired, authentic Italian pizza is $11 and easily feeds three people. For dinner you might want to get two pizzas with five people. It is a nice place to visit for dinner. They have nice salads and desserts too.

That sounds yummy too! But would only need one pizza, I'm leaving DH and the kids home!!!:scared1: Yep, its just me a best friend. Haven't told the kids yet, LOLOLOL
