Anyone know what the average length of time to get a passport is recently? Not what the government pages say but real time. Shorter or longer than average?

I live in the US now but have a friend who was thinking of coming with us to Disney in Nov.(5-11) Needless to say I've been on her to get a passport for years but she kept putting it off because other ID was good enough. If she applied right now what are the odds she'd have it in time?

Just applied for our family last week. Was told 2-3 weeks max. I'll let you know. As an FYI - for a premium fee, they can fast track your passport - last October I had mine done and I recieved exactly 1 week after I applied. But you do have to go in person for this type of service.

Just applied for all of us at the end of July - we got them delivered about a week later. We applied in person but did not pay for any "express" service.

So odds are really good if your friend applied now, she'd have it in plenty of time for the beginning of Nov. I'd go in person though, and not send it in via mail.

That's great! Thanks for the info. :goodvibes

We went in person early July and had them about 10 days later. I imagine if she doesn't put it off too much longer it shouldn't be an issue!!

We applied in person on a Friday back in July and had the passports in our mailbox 12 days later.

I took my friend to get her's in person and she received it in 10 days, same for my sister in law and brother they applied for a renewal and it was before the 2 weeks they were told.

Thanks again. I've passed this info on to her so hopefully she gets her butt in gear. I have to renew mine next year. I hope it's still happening this fast then. I'll have to send it in and wait for my new one. Makes ne nervous. I feel naked without my passport. :rotfl:

I had the same experience, actually when he/she goes to the passport office and puts the paperwork thru they will tell her the day that it will be mailed out by. I know that mine was in my hands a week before the day that they said it would be...so within 7-10days for sure!!! I was impressed!

Quick passport ?

The kids need new passports. If I take the completed applications to the passport office, do the children have to be with me? Last time I simply mailed them, but we need them soon so will have to go to office this time.

thank you

No, they do not need to be with you.

If you can in person, it's a two-week wait right now. We just did ours in August. I paid $10 extra to pick them up and it was exactly 2 weeks. She can easily have it for November.
