I was just wondering what is the average number of points owned?

My hubby and I have no kids, and currently have no plans for them, so I was wondering what number of points would be good for us to go down for a week every year? Or trade into some II locations to mix it up every once in a while?

Appreciate the help.

If you buy 160 points then you can trade into II for a one bedroom in peak season.

It really depends on what you want. We started out with 230 points, because we expected to just be going by ourselves and occationally with our adult offspring. Then we discovered how much fun it was to take others with us, so we quickly added on another 150 points.

If you plan to stay in 1 bedrooms and know what time of year you are most likely to go, that should determin the amount of points you need.

About a year ago someone started a thread like this and the outcome is that "average" can be misleading. There are a few with huge points (hundreds or thousands) that skew the "mean", which was 350 to 400 as I recall. If you remove those with megapoints it's considerably lower.

The most frequently owned number of points was closer to 200, again as I recall.

You should buy what you need and can afford. There are some advantages to owning several smaller contracts rather than one big one. The ability to resell for one. So you can buy a smaller contract and add on as you see fit.
