Average measurements

I have been doing a bunch of searches and came up with the following from numerous sites.


average woman

Hgt = 5' 3.5"
wgt = 143lbs
chest = 36"
waist = 29"
hips = 39"
thighs = 22" - 24"


average man

Hgt = 5'9"
wgt = 172lbs
chest = 37" - 38"
waist = 31" - 34"
hips = 36"
thighs = 21"



Hope these measurements help keep our goals in prospective - Only 1% of the population looks like the models and celebrities we see gracing the magazine covers and TV/movie screens.

And if you see it in a magazine it's most likely been airbrushed and touched up so much the person who's picture it is wouldn't even recognize their own body!

Sue, thank you so much for this info! While I do want to reach a certain weight goal, I've been wondering what kind of measurements I can reasonably expect to achieve, so this gives me some perspective!

thanks for the information. It looks like besides my height and waist, I am exactly there right now. My waist is off by 2 inches. Now I know that I'm on the right track at least
