What would you estimate as the average cost of a CS meal for adults and for children?

I would say....

Adults $9 -14
With drink & dessert I would budget the higher number. Of course, this is gonna vary, it can definately get much higher at a few select locations.

Children right around $5.00
This is pretty consistant but can again depending on location become a bit lower or higher.

Pretty-much. Here are some hard numbers, for the adult numbers, to support that:

Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe
Tomorrowland - Magic Kingdom
Beef Hot Dog (with apple slices or french fries) $5.79
1/2 Chicken and BBQ Rib Combination served with Mashed Potatoes and a seasonal vegetable $13.99
Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite, Orange, Light Lemonade, Apple Juice, Gold Peak Iced Tea (sweetened or unsweetened) - $2.09 & $2.39

So based on this very limited but somewhat representative sample, between $7.88 and $16.38 plus tax.

To be fair, that most-expensive item there (the combo) is an anomaly -- it is really two meals in one -- so let me swap that out...

1/2 Rotisserie Chicken - with Mashed Potatoes and a seasonal vegetable $9.09

So based on this very limited but somewhat representative sample, between $7.88 and $11.48 plus tax.

For our family of four (two teens, tho), I'm happy if we spend $40 on a CS meal. We try to keep to sandwiches, rather than meals, since I usually have one nice TS ADR for each day.

Thanks very much. That helps. We are trying to decide whether or not to do DDP or just pay OOP for meals. Last time we felt like we had WAY too much food and could often have split meals.

When are you going? We go next Thursday and are doing mainly CS meals because we're not doing the dining plan this year. I could keep my receipts and tell you what we had, where we had it, and an exact dollar amount. Doing all this eating will be me and my 2 kids (also teens, although my DS eats like he were triplets :lmao: ). Just a thought...

Wow--that is a very generous and kind offer! We don't leave until Feb. I think that the averages people have already given me are probably enough to help me determine an approximate amount to budget. If I wasn't quite so lazy I could look up every menu on the disboards and figure out what my kids and our family might eat every day....:rolleyes1

I'm basically planning on about $110 +/- per day for CS meals and treats, but a little more on the days we have ADRs. And even at the TS restaurants we have the ADRs at we don't order the most expensive item on the menu which pretty much keeps things down to a dull roar, know what I mean?

7-9 for a 'combo' meal (fries and burger etc) MOST CS places fit this 'budget'.
10-13 for a high end CS meal (like cosmic rays ribs and chicken combo)

Drinks are 2-3 bucks
Desserts are 2-3 bucks

I would say 9-13 per meal is about right with some higher depending on what you get.
