Avatarland Worst idea ever?

Speaking for my 23-year old son, this is the BEST idea they've come up with, not the worst. ;)
~I think this is the demographic that Disney is trying to reach! Tour of Duty Black OPs II just raked in $1 Billion dollars in 15 days! I believe this is the market Disney wants to appeal to! Somebody went to see AVATAR, $3 Billion dollars is not a fluke. I was positive Avengers or Batman would steal the title as highest grossing movie, they haven't.

~And, everyone here just "raved" about the "New Fantasyland", "it's SO Disney" blah blah blah. Where are the lines, where is the crazy frenzy, lol?! I was just in another thread yesterday, where a poster who had never visited WDW before, asked what park to visit -- everyone in that thread recommended Epcot! I was the only one to suggest MK, and I was shocked.

~I'm sorry but actions speak louder than words. Disney knows exactly what they're doing & I totally support this! :goodvibes

As for the mention of Carsland in DHS, you obviously haven't been to DCA. Carsland is fantastic. RSR is in my top five of favorite rides.

~I think the Carsland at DCA looks fabulous! Sorry, but a duplicate Carlands @ DHS would *not* be fabulous! You have to know that WDW's version of Carsland would be a cheap carbon copy and nowhere near as grand as the one at DCA. Why would anyone want that? Plus, I really don't care to see a bunch of orange cones everywhere, it works for DCA not DHS. I want something original and unique! JMHO. :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

I think that what sells 1billion does not mean it should have a theme park land named after it . People are fickle for most things , and if WDW starts catering to the fickle fads or whims if the moment, they will be in real trouble,

Harryland was a great idea because those books are classics and will survive generation like many Disney films.

Avatar , the film , can be found on any basement sales bin these days. Try finding a Disney movie in a mark down sales bin.

This is what makes cash in the long run. If WDW management chases each fad, they will find the investment will not hold peoples attention IMO.

~I don't think Disney should create a theme park on what sells $1 Billion, but it makes total sense to target the demographic. This group has a lot of disposable income, in spite of the debt. These guys (and girls 48%) are going to get married and/or start families -- if they haven't already.

~No one is all that excited about the New Fantasyland, I have read so many "I'm underwhelmed" reports it's not even funny. But, this is what everyone "here" was raving about, if Disney were only to appeal to this demographic, they'll probably be bankrupt soon.

~Again, Avatar the film has no bearing on how Disney will interpret and translate Avatarland. You just don't like the movie, but that doesn't mean you won't like Avatarland. :goodvibes

:rotfl:~LOL. This is just too funny. Honestly, I haven't, we go in August and it's so HOT. But, I have seen parts of the show on the backlot tour. The motorcycle stunt guys came over to wave at us. It looks like a really good show! :goodvibes

Actually i like the movie alot, even thought its a many times over repeated story. I am a huge Sci fi geek, but I am still at a loss for how this fits into AK or WDW at all?

If you do look at it from a strictly "money grab" angle then you have a point! I would still argue if thats the motivation, there are a bunch of much better ideas to pursue.

Endor and Carsland are my top two.

I'd like to still believe there is more than just demographics motivating WDW at this point. But I suppose its the only way to explain the awful tween shows on Disney channels!!

For the record, i got into the FLE preview in November and i think its great addition to Fantasyland!!
