do NOT miss this movie..............make sure you go to 3-d version............it is a film that will go down in history as groundbreaking for its realistic use of motion capture...............:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 **UPDATE** as of 12/27 domestic gross is 212 million and foreign box office is 403 million for a worldwide total of 615 million in only 10 days. the film in now on track to eclipse 400 million domestically. it is still very hard to predict the overseas total but 1 billion just from that is not out of the question.

This is the first positive review I have seen of this movie. Maybe we will go see it afterall.

go to Rottentomatoes.com.............they compile reviews..........reviews are 83% positive............. i think this will do over 1 billion worldwide before it is over.

my son (22 years old) and daughter (25 years old) and their respective SOs went to see it on sunday night and said it's OUTSTANDING...
they're taking us to see it tomorrow....said we HAVE to see it..

so i'll let you know after tomorrow....

Funniest thing I heard said about it was a posting on Facebook.

The person called "Avatar"....

"Dances With Smurfs"

:rotfl2::worship:

I so need to see this movie based on that alone.

Not sure why, but I am completely ambivalent about this movie.

The blue cat people look annoying.

I was blown away by this movie! It was truly awesome, and 3D is here to stay. I predict all movies will be in 3D very soon.

On a side note, Disney has been ahead of the game again on 3D and I applaud them.

yeah... I thought I was the only one alive not excited about this movie..

I wasn't paying any attention to it, but my brother in law and his twenty-ish sons went, and my friend, her husband and their 2 pre-adolescent daughters saw it - all LOVED it!

Now I want to see it!!

same here Kevin, totally no interest in it..
that's why they went without us....i REALLY didn't want to see it..
but now they won't take no for an answer...
so we're going with them (all 4 of them want to see it again :confused3 )

we're not seeing it tonight though....it was sold our for tonight, tomorrow and through the weekend...so we've already bought the tickets for next thursday (yes, you heard right - we had to buy tickets a full week in advance to get seats... :confused3 )

so i'll let you know if i'm still ambivalent after i see it...

It's one of those "leap forward" movies that takes you somewhere you never knew you wanted to go until you get there. I got wrapped up in the story and the characters and really enjoyed the whole experience. It's visually stunning.

I was really impressed with the quality of the 3D. I forgot that I was wearing the glasses until my eye itched and I smacked them!

I totally did not want to see it either. But DH saw it yesterday and insisted that DS and I go today with him to see it. WOW. It is a great movie and such a beautiful, visually stunning move. 2 thumbs up! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Do you want to add an update to your first post? You can edit the first post using the edit button. If the number of posts has exceeded 15, I don't know of anyway to get a post back on page one.

My husband and I saw Avatar on Saturday night and I am going again tomorrow, taking my teenage grandkids. I had no idea what it was even about until I saw it and I loved it. Be sure and see the 3-D version. It was wonderful.
