Avatar in Animal Kingdom a bad idea?

I don't know, does anyone else besides me think that Disney got snowed on the deal to put Avatar in AK and take up all that space: http://www.msn.com/en-us/movies/news...cid=ansentap11. I can think of a dozen things they could have done with that space instead of spending five years building a section that may be moot!

By the time the movie finally comes out, it will be 7-8 years since the original. I don't think a lot of kids will even know what it is or be interested in visiting a make-believe land for this theme. I'm not even sure adults will care about it that much. :confused3

It seems to have petered out in less than a year from it's release and while it was the highest grossing movie of all time, I think the novelty has worn off.

Also, how will they ever be able to have any characters? The characters are 9 feet tall. I guess a lot of stilt walkers :rotfl:

Anyone agree?
...yup....ITA.
[never liked the movie anyhoo...:confused3 ]

My wife, my chidren and I all have zero interest in Avatar. Now, some of the rides in Avatar land will prove popular for two reasons: people generally appreciate new attractions, and Disney will probably spend big to get the latest in ride tech and ride creativity. But they could use all that new ride tech and creativity on "Magic Carrot Land" and people would love that, too, even if just for the new ride tech and creativity. So Avatar Land, Magic Carrot Land, The Ride of the Prairie Dog Land, or whatever, the ride technology and creativity is what may draw people in.

:lmao::rotfl2:

....I'd like to ride in a magic flying carrot.....:rotfl: [ :teeth: ]

Just to get it out of the way, I'm not a big fan of the movie. It was visually interesting, but If I want to watch Dances with Wolves...I'll watch Dances with Wolves.

I understand the motivation behind it, I mean the movie made $$$$$$. But, I think that there were plenty of other properties that would have a more broad appeal. Harry Potter is a home run for Universal because the books/films have a huge following that is equal parts young/old.

I don't recall kids clamoring for the latest Avatar merchandise and with the movie pushed back another year, the cross promotional opportunity is gone.

Now, build a complete Star Wars themed park and I will be there twice a year with bells on!

......impressive, but you are not a Jedi yet.

Ride of the Prarie Dog Land . . . when, where . . .I can't wait. Can I get FastPass+ ressies now. :banana:

I would love to start a thread on how a relative who's also a cast member/bus driver told me that WDW discovered a secret stash of Walt's memoirs detailing his plans for Ride of the Prarie Dog Land and how imagineers have started on the project - to be built where River Country used to be . . .

....personally, MY vote is for the carrots.....popcorn::
