Hi! My DH wants to see Avatar and wants to take DS6 with him. He thinks that PG13 ratings are no big thing and that it will be no different than him seeing the Clone Wars. I, however, think that there is a reason for these ratings and think my 6 year old has no business watching. Has anyone seen it that can give me an opinion?

Thanks!

The PG 13 will be for the violence. Are you okay with him seeing people shot or stabbed?

We saw it yesterday with my 9 year old and 11 year olds.......lots of war type scenes and one quick "kissing scene" as my daughter puts it.....

Overall, some bits of language here and there....nothing more than they say on tv these days. Mostly the pg13 is for the violence.

3D version was great!

Not particularly, but DH seems to think it is no big deal. I just don't want those images in his head. I realize that he sees some on tv, even on cartoons, but I just don't like it. I think this is just one of those things DH and I will never agree on.

Thanks for the info! I have heard that alot of people are enjoying it. I think DH just doesn't want to go alone. :rotfl:

OP, I am older, with grandchildren. I don't think Avatar would be too bad for the younger set. Parts of it were simply beautiful! And all this from someone who usually doesn't like science fiction movies! I agreed with a pp that the 3D version was better (I saw it twice, 1 plain, 1 3D).

However, I did have a problem with the animated version of A Christmas Carol. I thought that was way too scary for little kids!:scared1:

www.kidsinmind.com is another great site that gives parents very detailed information about movies. I have found it to be very reliable and I use it all the time.

Sometimes I end up saying "no" to a movie I thought would be OK, and other times I've discovered that a movie I thought might be inappropriate because of the PG-13 rating was actually fine.

i saw it with dd10 being the youngest in our group. we all loved the movie and i can't think of any reason to not let a six year old see it.
