Sorry if someone's already posted about this here, but I did a search and didn't find anything, so here goes, just in case someone else finds it useful!
I need an umbrella stroller for our upcoming trip to WDW. My DD's will be 11 months old and 4 3/4 years old at the time of the trip. I have a double jogger with the pivoting front wheel for when we have both of them in the parks, but my mom is coming too and there will be times when she will be back at the room with the baby so it'll just be me, DH, and the 4 yo in the parks. She weighs 39 lbs right now and is fairly tall (42"), so I knew a regular cheapie umbrella stroller would not work and did not want to bring our second smaller single stroller since the double jogger will take up so much room in the van as it is.
Anyway, I'd been reading all the posts, reviews, etc. about the Maclaren Quest and thought that was the way I'd go (I want one that will recline!). I need something with a weight limit of 45 lbs or more, too.
Well, I was at Baby Depot (in Burlington Coat Factory) and found this nifty little reclining umbrella stroller made by Avalon. It has a weight rating of 45 lbs., and my DD can fit in it without her head hanging off the back of the seat. It has padded handles, tho not as cushy as the Maclaren. It handles very well, almost as well as the Mac, and definitely much better than any other lightweight/umbrella stroller I tried at BRU with my 4 yo in it! I am 5' 3", and DH is 6' 2". We both could push this comfortably without kicking the wheels. DH even commented on how easy it was for him to push, something he's always complaining about with our other strollers since he's so tall. It has a generous sun canopy, too. And did I mention, it reclines?! Only 2 positions, but still enough for a nap in the stroller.
It only has a 3 point harness, but I solved that problem with a little snap-on front safety bar I found over in the accessories section of Baby Depot for only $0.99! Works perfectly. All my other strollers only have 3 point system, but they have the tray in front, so it keeps baby from leaning too far forward even in her seatbelt. This serves the same purpose, and the best part is, the stroller can still be folded up completely with it attached. Very cool!
Oh, I guess you want to know the price, huh......$29!!!!!!!!! Can you believe that? It does not have the little mesh basket underneath like the Mac, but for over $100 cheaper, I can live without it!
I was so pleased with this find. Now I don't have to drop $150 or more on a Mac Quest and worry the whole time that someone might swipe it outside a ride.
