Available for a week but not just one night

I needed to make a reservation for 4/6-4/7. The room I want to book shows no availability but when I look at 4/6-4/12, it shows available. Does Disney really block out rooms for reservations for a week and not just 1 night? Seems kind of unfair.

Disney doesn't have to be fair. And yes, they do that. Helps prevent orphan dates and empty units.

yes they do that. What I do in that situation is book the whole week and then call back two days later and cancel the days you don't need the room

It isn't always that easy anymore. They have stopped allowing that unless the shortened stay is available as a new reservation. Some have been transferred to a manager or other CM who have allowed it, some have not.

That's exactly what I was wondering. Maybe closer to my trip, they'll release single days if still available.

Yes, it is. Disney is often unfair. In fact, it seems to be the rule these days.

Universal hotels do the exact same thing. I’ve had better luck with Disney adjusting the reservation than universal. Because Universal’s hotels are owned by Lowe’s there is literally nothing they can/will do.

Have you tried calling? Sometimes the CM can get an approval.

This is not just a Disney thing , many hotels will do this is it's a busy time or at their discretion. It may seem unfair to the consumer but a hotels goal is to always sell out everyday. Sometimes too many single days create room inventory issues.
