Availabilty more than 11 months out?

It's possible that there's scheduled maintenance on that type of room scheduled for that day. DVD needs to keep X number of rooms unbooked to maintain them in a state of good repair. It's possible that they've scheduled more rooms to be maintained on that next day than they did the previous.

OK that makes more sense. What's DVD mean?

Maybe I'm missing something, but couldn't this scenario have occurred because someone made a reservation consisting of multiple room categories? What I mean is, if they booked a different category of room (e.g. 1 bedroom, std view studio, etc.) for the days prior to 12/23, but booked a Savannah view studio for 12/23?

No, a different category would mean you have to wait until 11 months before that date. Even with this new reservation segmenting for the dining plan, if you split your reservation so that you can have a different dining plan or none, you have to wait until 11/7 months before the second segment to make that part of the reservation.

Here's the email reply I received, in addition to some thank yous for writing and please let me know if we can be of further help, and sorry for inconvenience.

"Since Members can confirm up to a 7 night stay in advance, Members could have confirmed a reservation that included the night on December 23, 2011 on December 17, 2011. The 2 Bedroom Villas Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas - Jambo House are all Lock-Offs. A 2 Bedroom Lock-Off Villa is a 1 Bedroom Villa and a Deluxe Studio that are joined together. When Members confirm these rooms, it removed an additional Deluxe Studio from our inventory."

Even though (and especially since) I don't know all the aspects of DVC, I sure appreciate their customer service.

OK, so if DVC decided to increase the number of 2BR lockoffs available for booking as of Dec 23rd, that would decrease the number of studios available starting from that date. I could see where the number of studios, 1BRs and 2BRs they make available might vary at certain times of the year. Maybe they pre-allocate more 2BRs during school vacation weeks and fewer at other times. So perhaps there was a studio available through Dec 22nd but as of Dec 23rd it becomes part of a 2BR lockoff and therefore is unavailable to be booked as a studio from that date.

Huh? I never thought that they determined 2BR lock-offs in advance. Do you mean that they can't see a lock-off as any of studio, 1BR or 2BR? They have to estimate that in advance?

I'm just speculating that particularly for those resorts where all of the 2BRs are lockoffs (Jambo House, BWV) they might pre-allocate some studios and 1BRs to be booked only as 2BR lockoffs, at least initially. Otherwise, I could imagine a scenario where it would be impossible for someone to book a 2BR unit because all of the studios were already taken by those who got through to MS first. Now we could argue "first come, first served" but I could also imagine that they want to make sure there are at least a few 2BRs available for booking.

Well, I walked my BCV ressie for Christmas week. Hate to do this but I need a 2 bedroom and last year I was waitlisted for a day in the middle of my reservation even though I called at 11months exactly:confused3 I don't think this is needed unless you are calling at Christmas, Easter etc. I really didnt need to do it this year. Had no problem getting the days. I book a few days out from when I really want to come in and then I call the next two days and cancel the first day of my ressieand add a day at the end. Some people do it way out. I dont, too much work but do it two days out.
