Called MS today 10/22 to extend my Oct. reservation and was told that the 24 and 25 were booked already. My reservation is from the 10/17 checking out on the 10/24. How is somebody able to book my room 2 days before I check out?

You waited too long, you should have called on the 18 to add the 24 and again on the 19 to add the 25.

Should not have to, the room is out if inventory till the 24. I was adding on till the 27th. 26 and 27 are available.

Anyone else booking in the last 5 days could have taken those dates as part of their 7 day reservation. (Call on 18th, can book 10/18-10/24, book on 19th, can book 10/19-10/25).

I agree with BillPA.

No not for the room the op has booked they couldn't as the 18th and 19th wasn't available.

Maybe there are some planned maintenance outages of rooms

Had this experience about a month ago. Same results-- people on here telling me someone booked it past me. Can't be done. You can't book a room with out the first day being available...... and you can't skip days....... I called MS and made them get a supervisor and then they booked the room. I don't know what was going on, and neither does anyone here. Careful-- you will get labeled a conspiracy theorist.

I did speak to a supervisor and she kept telling me that other people must have extended their vacation and took the room that was after my check out date :confused3. Asked for her supervisor and was told they would call me back in 48 to 72 hours.

The only explanation is that DVC took at least one room (in the category the OP booked) out of inventory.

Under the booking rules, it is not possible for anyone else to legally book those nights before 11/24/2015 (when the 11 month window opens for 10/24/2016). The CMs who told the OP otherwise were misinformed.

Is this with your BLT contract - that's the only one I see in your signature but maybe you have more? All categories have open dates there.

Or are they takeing that room for themselves for a CRO rental?

Call MS and ask to talk to a team line CM. They are senior CM's who helps MS with issues and they have access to additional accounting and reservation tools.

Inventory management does not just move inventory around according to whim. There are very strict guidelines to keep Member Inventory and Developer Inventory separate. Longtime members generally know & understand that as exchanges are made by DVC members, this can greatly impact the amount of cash inventory available. For example, if I use 400 points to book a Disney Cruise, DVD must take 400 points worth of inventory from my home resorts and move that inventory from the condo association (member inventory) to developer inventory in order to sell that inventory for cash and pay DCL for my cruise. So there would be a little jump in cash available inventory because of my booking. Does that make sense?

Long, long ago I worked the infamous teamline and I can tell you that when we were in real need to try and "pull" a room from developer inventory to the member inventory we would have to contact inventory mgmt and ask if they could help by moving inventory for us. Many times it just plain could not be done. There are a lot of governing rules that put parameters around moving inventory from one side to the other.

As others have mentioned, it is entirely possible that some rooms are being taken out of inventory during the OP's dates. I do not recall the number of value studios at AKL, but I believe it is a pretty small number, so if there is any work being done on this category it could make a larger than average impact on inventory during those dates.

Since the OP got varying answers, it is a good idea to call back and try to speak with a lead. Not sure that it will change the OP's situation but hopefully they will get answers. Good luck!

So I called this morning and asked to extend my vacation and was told again that the 24th and 25th were not available. I asked to speak to a lead and was put on hold. The CM came back after a bit and told me the lead agreed with me saying that the 24 could not be booked yet and was researching it. After 35 minutes of holding the lead came on the line and took over the call. He told me that he was working with his mangers and while looking in the inventory that the 2 days became available. He did not want to say but speculated that a room was taken out for cleaning.

Everyone I talked to today were very friendly and helpful. If the outcome would have been different, I would have accepted it and change my plans accordingly. This was more about accountability on Disney’s part.
