Availability Weirdness

I know we can't put specifics, so I'm not going to do that. But last night both VGF and AKV (both Jambo and Kidani) both had the same set of 4 nights open up in almost every room type. This is for dates that fall within the next month. This morning the exact same thing happened at BLT and BWV for the same dates as VGF and AKV.

I'm assuming they are returning rooms from breakage. Since it is within 30 days so I don't think it would be commercial renters given the holding penalty.

I have noticed some changes for next month as well. It seems that this is either DVC or owners who are canceling to avoid holding.

I can never get the number of rooms code to work right, so no clue how many it is. But, for the resorts I saw, it was not every room type for the same exact days.

Just a follow up, this now happened at basically every resort...same nights. The dates that opened would be subject to holding.

ETA: I was mistaken, it was not EVERY resort -- it did not happen at Poly, BCV, SSR, or OKW.

Holding is much less likely to impact commercial renters than personal use owners. It’s one of many advantages that comes with for profit usage of the DVC system.

The more DVC reservations a member has, the easier it is to absorb holding points by modifying them into another reservation, basically removing the penalty. It’s thought this might just be a glitch in the system but it works.

I’m pretty sure commercial renters get very savvy about pushing the limits of the system due to how much experience is gained running many contracts and rentals.

Let's hope not since I moved us to BWV because of it. I personally think they moved rooms back from breakage. The rooms did not get dumped all at once it was a resort or two at a time.

I think you may be onto something and it could have been a commercial renter given the dates that were available and the resorts that I now discovered were not included (harder to get / less desirable for the dates).
