I have been trying to rent my points that expire at the end of December. I have been asked to checking availability at all of the resorts for different time periods between now and December. For the most part, the resorts have all been booked. It looks like I may have to loose my points, or find a non Disney resort close to home and treat myself to an unexpected little vacation.

Don't forget that if you need to use the points for a non-DVC resort, you must make the reservation prior to 60 days before the end of the Use Year. You can stay during that time period but must have already made the reservation. ;)

Your points expire at the end of December? There is no January use year so that's not possible. If they are December use year, they expire November 30.

Just a suggestion, offer them for "transfer only" at a discount. If it's less than maybe $7 per point, a DVC member might want to use them for a trip that's already reserved, and put their own points back into their account for later use. At least you would cover your point cost that way. Of course, that's assuming this would be "legal". Diana

If you want to book a non-DVC resort and conceirge collections, you have to do it NOW - you only have about a week left!

Pam is correct, you can't make those reservations within 60 days of the end of your use year. They need time to rent those points out to cover the cost of your alternate accommodations. We learned this the hard way one year.

Call DVC TODAY to discuss your options. Maybe you have enough points to make a deposit into Interval Int'l if you don't have time to vacation before 11/30/03?

If I were you I would make a reservation for any consecutive nights at any DVC resort with as many of your expiring points as possible. See if anyone wants to rent that existing last minute reservation as is at a discount. If not, I would be looking to give away a free trip on those dates to family, friends, or a charity such as Make A Wish.

Good luck on not losing those points.

Last year I made a December AKL SV reservation on points with less than 30 days notice. Maybe a WDW resort reservation is possible. I highly recommend AKL SV!

Jim,

What's your use year? You would only have a problem with a December 2002 reservation if you had a February use year and you made the reservation within 60 days of 1/31/03.

If you have a use year other than a February use year then we are talking about 2 different things. A last minute non-DVC reservation is definitely possible and is different from trying to make a non-DVC reservation too close to the end of your use year.

JimC, you can make a reservation at a WDW resort 30 days out, but you can not make one within the last 60 days of your use year. You can make the reservation at 61 days out from the last day of your use year and travel right up to the end of your use year.

Gosh, do I make sense at all?:D

I have a current reseveration for OKW from 12/28-1/2. If you are interested I would take 30 points and roll the dice that I can add to my current dates.
