Automated gates at monorails?

I read on an older thread that the TTC and MK monorail stations now have automated gates. Can someone explain what this means and what these gates look like? Thanks.

Instead of sliding fence sections that had to be manually opened by a cast member, there are now automatic swinging gates where each set of monorail doors will be, when the train parks. The doors swing towards the monorail.

What do they look like? Stainless steel fencing, with posts every few feet, and gates that open. Not sure how to provide a better description.
