On a previous cruise I gave pillowcases to guest services for the characters to autograph. Do they still do this?

Hi, we were on the Magic in February and they were more than happy to have our pillowcases signed. Have a fantastic trip.

Very recent reports on the May cruises on the Magic said Guest Service is no longer taking things to be autographed...you must get individual autographs on your own from the characters.

I knew this would happen and it grew too large and was never really a DCL "official" service...it just kind of spread word of mouth and now got too big for its britches!!!

I would not be surprised if DCL noticed the demand and starting charging for this service....I know I am getting cynical....

we were on the 5/15 Eastern and I asked guest services several times (different CMs) and they all said they would not do it. The problem we had was that the CMs that were with the characters were telling people to bring t-shirts/pillowcases to Guest Services to have them signed. Frustrating. We didn't get ours signed -- I think some people did, which is unfair. I was standing on line one night and the woman in front of me picked up her t-shirts that were autographed! When I asked why hers were signed and I was repeatedly told they didn't do that, the CM went in the back and then came out and told me that woman was with a Make a Wish family. I said, well, if that's true then I'm glad you did it for them. Seemed odd that she'd have to go to the back room for the answer, though, huh? :(

so...I guess you can try, maybe if you get the right CM they will do it for you. I'd like to hear from anyone cruising after us if they got it done!

We were on the May 8th Western and I got two pillow cases signed. I've also heard about a bunch of people that got denied.

Not sure if these people are taking used pillow cases up to drop off. Mine were brand new and still in the packages. I asked at GS and the gal said, most certainly they would sign them I just had to pick them back up on Friday night.

My wife went to pick them up while I was with the girls and she put them on their pillows. They are a wonderful and cute gift. My girls were completely blown away when they got back to the room. Wasn't a problem for us but I hear it was for many others.

We're going to ask the CM escort that is with the character if they can handle it for us. I'm sure some cash along with the request will help.
Just an idea!

Just back from the 4 night Wonder. We dropped off photo mats (two 8x10's) at guest services the first night of the cruise along with 8 colored sharpie markers . She said no problem. We picked them up after 10:30pm the last night of the cruise as she instructed. They turned out absolutely beautiful. We chose two pictures of the girls from shutters and are using the mats for a picture for each of the girls to hang in their room as a memento from the cruise.

I am sorry for those who are getting turned down. It sounds more like the Magic is denying people from reading this post. We had no trouble on the Wonder.

I hope they don't discontinue this. It's really special for the kids. Good luck to anyone who is trying to do this in the future.

We were on the May 8th Magic. I first went to Guest Services with my pillow case and the CM (male) said that they no longer would provide this service. He said that we had to get the autographs on our own.

I then brought the pillow case (which was going to be a surprise to my daughter for her birthday, but I had to show it to her to get the autographs) with us to an autograph session, and the CM (woman) said that the characters could not sign the pillow case, but she would be happy to take it and we could pick it up in a couple of days.

So that is what we did, but I found it interesting that the Guest Services CM would not even try to get this done for us, and the character helper CM acted like she was really happy to help us.

As a side note I have to say, we were on the Wonder last year and I was really surprised at the overall service level of the Magic vs. the Wonder. On the Wonder all CM's seemed to bend over backwards to do anything to make our trip better. On the Magic I was met with no's on simple requests and nastiness on others.

That's disappointing to hear that the CM were nasty. What type of requests. The CM have made our cruises in the past. Hope we don't experience bad service next month.
