autographs at character meals?

Is it appropriate to get autographs at character meals? Or just pics since the characters are trying to get to all the tables?? Please advise, thanks!! It seems like it may be more trouble than it is worth?

yes, just have a pen and autograph book ready. We do it alot....

At CRT the princesses all asked to sign. At Chef Mickey's they told us to have the book ready.

At Liberty Tree Tavern, a couple of times the characters just grabbed my book off of the table. Signing only takes a few seconds so it is definitely worth the trouble
