My DS who will be 10 when we return to WDW in Nov has decided he want to have characters autograph a t-shirt. WE would probably just do that at character meals where characters has sign it on a table. I KNOW they will NOT sign clothing you are actually wearing at the time. Other than that, what are the WDW guidelines for having t-shirts, etc autographed???

Thanks!!

There are no posted guidelines other than that you can't be wearing the clothing. It's helpful to the characters if you can stretch the t-shirt on a piece of cardboard, a clipboard, or other hard surface, so it's easier for them to write on it. Some people use embroidery hoops to stretch the shirt, and then they can re-position the hoops to wherever they want the autograph to go.

I've heard that you can autograph clothing (unless you are wearing it). We got our DD5 a sweatshirt with all the princesses and are planning on letting her get it autographed as well.

We did this when we went in January. I went to the Disney store and bought my GD a white t-shirt that said Disney across the chest and had the word Disney surrounded by a bunch of the characters. I then ordered myself one from Disneydirect that was white, long sleeve, and had Disney spelled out across the chest with the different character body parts. That t-shirt, by the way is now on clearance (in kids as well as adult sizes) at Disney Direct. Use a small embroidery hoop and it will be tight and steady for the characters to sign. The only problem we had was that Buzz Lightyear and Woody can't sign because of their hands, so they use a stamp. The handler with them was very nice and made a point of following us and telling us to use our sharpie to write over their stamp, otherwise it would wash out. You can then either wear the t-shirt or do what we are and have them framed and hang them.

The official word is they won't sign anything being worn nor will they sign a t-shirt with anything on it (except Disney), so be sure to carry a solid color one or else a Disney one.

and then let the character sign them? I have made a few T-Shirts for our upcoming trip and we thought that we could ask the Princesses at PSL sign them for us. Is this doable? :confused3

Thanks :flower:

Wow! You learn something new every day! I had NO IDEA the characters would not sign a T-Shirt you are wearing!!! We recently ran into Donny Osmond (In Dallas) and he signed our t-shirts. We were wearing them at the time. Which gave my 11 DD the idea of having her Disney T-shirt signs by the characters when we go in July. So I did a search and WOW!! Glad I found out you can't be wearing them at the time.

I do have a small embroidery hoop.

Thank you so much for the info!

DH did this when we went to Chef Mickey's last year. Had a white t-shirt with a bunch of the characters on it. When they came around we had them sign with a sharpie. All were great about it.!!

When checking into this for our January trip we were told that at one time characters would autograph t-shirts while they were being worn, but one accidently had his hand touching part of a female's anatomy (if you know what I mean). Because of his gloves and poor vision due to the rest of his costume, he didn't realize it, but apparently there was a big stink about it. Consequently characters will no longer autograph anything being worn.

We had absolutely no trouble getting out t-shirts signed. Just make sure you have the embroidery hoop over a blank area and that your child hands it to the character right side up. Unfortunately, I have Belle's autograph upside down on my t-shirt and Jesse's is a little sideways. I placed both of our t-shirts with the embroidery hoops (already situated over a blank space) and two sharpies in a zip lock bag in my backpack to keep them handy, clean, and dry. As soon as she saw a character my GD would grab them out of the bag and run get in line (no flipping pages to look for a blank page)..
