I read a tip on the budget forum 2 years ago before our 1st trip to Disney and just wanted to share it.
Rather than take autograph books, we took plain white t-shirts and fabric markers and had the characters autograph the shirts.
The kids had fun choosing which color marker they wanted each character to sign with - and the cast members and talking characters all commented on how much they liked the shirts. Not to mention the attention our shirts got from the other kids (and parents) around.
Last trip was in spring so we took short sleeve white tees for the kids to wear all summer at home. This time (fall) we took long sleeve tees so they can wear them fall, winter & spring. I picked up the tees at Walmart for about $6ea. - and also the fabric markers (come 5 to a pack in different colors) for about $10.
Both trips I bought the shirts a little larger than needed, so the kids can wear them for a couple years before they outgrow them.
Our shirts are an AWESOME souvenoir and I think they are way cooler and will get a lot more use than a book.

Great ideas! Thank you all
