Autograph Shirts are WAY COOL

I read a tip on the budget forum 2 years ago before our 1st trip to Disney and just wanted to share it.

Rather than take autograph books, we took plain white t-shirts and fabric markers and had the characters autograph the shirts.

The kids had fun choosing which color marker they wanted each character to sign with - and the cast members and talking characters all commented on how much they liked the shirts. Not to mention the attention our shirts got from the other kids (and parents) around.

Last trip was in spring so we took short sleeve white tees for the kids to wear all summer at home. This time (fall) we took long sleeve tees so they can wear them fall, winter & spring. I picked up the tees at Walmart for about $6ea. - and also the fabric markers (come 5 to a pack in different colors) for about $10.

Both trips I bought the shirts a little larger than needed, so the kids can wear them for a couple years before they outgrow them.

Our shirts are an AWESOME souvenoir and I think they are way cooler and will get a lot more use than a book.

From what I remember from past trips is that Characters won't sign shirts that someone is wearing....has that been your experience???

On our first trip we didn't have a problem with them signing while the boys were wearing them.....until we went to Chef Mickey's. What they did at Chef Mickey's was had us take the t-shirts off in the kitchen and they signed them then (I have little boys so they didn't mind taking the shirts off).

This trip we just put the shirts in our backpacks. When it was time to sign, I just pulled them taut (or put them on the stamping podium).

We've been home for 3 days and my kids have made me wash them each night because they insist on wearing them every day so far.

DD ends up having about three shirts each trip.

I keep them in a plastic ziplock bag with different color sharpie markers.

When we do a princess meal, she has a princess shirt that only the princess can sign.

We did this several years ago, but we purchased t-shirts from WDW and had them signed.

My girls have since outgrown their shirts, but we ended up making them into pillows. I sewed the openings of the arms and neck, stuffed them and sewed the bottom shut. They are proudly displayed on my girls beds.

This is a great idea - My dh & I (although adults, we are really just grown-up kids) want to have autographed shirts too - sounds really cool :Pinkbounc :bounce:

I love the idea of doing the pillow as my dd's won't wear a t'shirt!

We did hats last trip. I bought each girl a light colored baseball hat at the hat shop on main street - you could also bring one from home. This helped keep a hat on my fair skinned girls and was easy and quick to get the autographs. They now hang on the wall in their rooms as decoration and they actually wear them as well.

what a great idea! I will have to remember that one!

Looks like I'll be off to Walmart later today to get a couple of t-shirts and some fabric pens for out trip next week! Do the characters have trouble signing the shirts?Has anyone used an embrodary hoop to keep the shirts taut for signing?

Omn my last trip to WDW, I brought a canvas tote that all of the characters signed. Lots of people told me they never thought of doing that....

The tote bag is a great idea. I always take one to work with me and although I am an adult I still love to have autographs. It's just a part of the Disney experience.

These are great ideas. I'll have to get myself a tote to have signed. When the characters sign the shirts, do you have something firm for them to place the shirts on to sign? I just wondered if I should be prepared to have something. Thanks again for this great idea. We've done the books in the past, but this is something different.

These are all super ideas - I'll have to remember for the next trip!
