Autograph Dilemma, Question

So I want to make an Autograph book for our next trip next month. I'm a little tired of the ones in Disney to buy. I have 4 children. It would take a long time for the character to sign 4 books. So my question/dilemma is, do I make an autograph book for each one with the same characters or different characters, do I make a BIG book and have them take turns giving it to the character, or do I make 4 books with different characters in them and how do I split it? They don't know they're going so I can't ask them which characters they would like in their books. I have 3 girls (11,9,and5) and 1 boy (8).
Any other suggestion?

I've never been to Disney so my opinion prolly doesn't count but my thoughts are this, I've got 4 kids and I plan to make each child one and they can all have the same characters, I want them all to have something to remember and if others in line don't understand, too bad!

Thanks Savy for your response. I don't have a problem with people waiting for the 4 autograph books to be signed. I just look at it as if it's not me then it would be somebody else. I just don't know if I should make 4 books at all (I guess I should) and if they should have all the same characters. When I take a picture with them and the character, it's usually all 4 of them unless they request a picture by themselves with the character. Like my middle daughter always gets one with Snow White by herself b/c that's her all time favorite character.

UGH! Why am I making this so difficult?

Anyone else suggestions or ideas. 80 views, ideas and suggestions needed!! PLEASE

I say make 4 with all the characters this way there won't be a chance for a fight. Also when they grow up and move out there won't be blood shed over who gets to keep which autograph book. When we go to the world it's usually just me and my sister and we both spend time getting autographs and taking pictures with the same characters the handlers close the line after a certain amount of people usually so it's not like your taking the character away from someone else. This year we're going with 5 kids me my sister and my 3 friends and we're all getting autographs and pictures and what not. Your in Disney have fun who cares what other people think.

Now since this is a surprise trip and there are, like, MANY characters which ones should I pick?

How does everyone else do it? Or do you include all the characters and some blank pages?

Wow! Maybe I oughta rethink this whole making my own book and just buy the same old autograph book? (Nah)

I'm glad your doing a book for each child. I go with common characters, characters that are at character meals or easy to spot several places or have a scheduled Meet and greet location in a park). Here is my list for 2011

Here's what I would do go to a website like this one:

I would decide from that who your positive your going to see and who you definitely no chance of finding.Then I would go to the simple guide to autograph book making thread it's on here and go through the custom pages that have been made for and pick out what you like I go from there.

I usually add everyone and who ever I don't see I save their card for the next trip. We usually print up the cards and carry them around in a hard shell pencil case, zip lock or recently we've been partial to keeping them in photo albums and small binders. We keep them loose the whole time and when we get home we decide what we want to do with them. We have had them bound and scrapbooked them and everything. We even decided what we are going to do next time (sort of). Make sure you carry a few blank cards for those characters you weren't prepared for. To make my dd's book, I used one of the Disney cricut cartridges and made a couple dozen shapes of Mickey's head. I used 3 different colors of heavy cardstock paper, then punched a hole in one of the ears of each card. I put them all on a ring and tied some coordinating ribbon around the ring. DD had a character sign each page. After we got home, I took the book apart and made a little scrapbook for her with the character's autograph on the left side of the 2 page layout, and a photo of her w/the character on the right side.

The book was really easy to make, and I cannot tell you how many people complimented us on the book and asked us where they could purchase one.

If I were you I'd make whatever character pages you make for one book, and have the characters sign that. When you get home, you could make color photocopies of those pages, and make 3 more books. Then you could personalize them by putting pictures of your kids on the pages. They could even decide out of all of the autographs which ones they want in their books. Maybe they'd even have their pictures taken individually with the characters (still faster than signing all the books, right?). Just a thought.

To answer your original question, I would narrow your choices to making either one full family book or a full book for each of them. Only you know how your kids would feel about sharing or not sharing. To be honest, 1 family book is a lot easier to manage (carry around, get signed, etc.). You might also consider doing an 8x8 book rather than a 5x7, as you can get more than one signature per page, so they are not as bulky. HI all,
I just wanted to let all of you who posted that after very much thinking and reading your advice, I've decided not to do the autograph book for this trip but I am definitely going to get started on it when we get back. I just can't decide which characters and since this is a surprise trip, I can't really ask them and I don't want them to be disappointed if they don't have a character in their book they really want.

For this trip we are not doing autographs at ALL!!!! I am actually making my girls Journals. I am using donatalie's DISigns and I am picking the rides we always hit up and then the few that we have never done before.

What about a journal this trip instead? It is something that each can do (you can help the little ones) at the end of the day and I am sure that they will all enjoy when they are older.

I did journals the last trip and they absolutely loved it! so did my husband I decided to do EPCOT Passports for them. I'm using Vistaprint to print them and (UGH!) I forgot whose DISigns but they are great. I'm using 3 different versions. I may do another journal if I have time, out trip is next month. Thank you for the idea.
