That was what I was going to say too. My niece is really shy and it gave her an opening and a few seconds to compose herself before the interaction. She was 3 during her first trip and my because my sister knew she would be too shy to get many autographs, got one of those combo autograph/photo books. My niece is now 5, but she still loves looking at the pictures of herself with the characters and will point out the signature of each.
Conversely, I bought a book for my 8 year old son and he was completely uninterested. He thought it was too babyish. So I think it depends on your children.
My DD started when she had just turned 3, she really likes it! When she was three she was shy, and it really helped her with the character interaction for the first little while, by the middle of that trip she didn't need anything to help!!!
Where can I get one of these books,I would prefer to get one before I leave for WDW,I am sure they are cheaper outside of the parks, anyone know this is our first trip to WDW,all help is greatly appreciated!
My son did this last summer when he was 5 and he loved it! He plans on doing it again this year as well. (He will turn 7 just a few days before we arrive)

DD is almost 6 and we leave in 2 weeks. We have always done autographs but as we were going through our stuff to take she got really excited about getting to do this this year. She was telling me all the ones she wanted to get and also with the pin trading. I think this is going to be a good age to take.
When i took my girls to disney when they were 2, while waiting in the lobby of SSR before our dinner in turf club, they were each given a disney notepad. They both loved getting the autographs in it all trip. It was so cute.
My sons are 10 and 7. We had autograph books saved from a short trip 4 years ago (we never used them). We had a ton of character breakfasts planned this trip, mostly for the buffet meals since we had the deluxe dining, but the kids ended up LOVING the character interaction, especially the 10 year old.
I thought the same thing with my youngest, he was 3 on our last trip. We got a book for DS6, and DS3 said he wanted one too. I picked it up and asked if he knew what it was, and he said "Mickey write his name".
We got ours at the gift shop at our resort - we got the ones that have a photo sleeve on one side and blank page on the other. When we got home, we spent a great evening going through pictures and choosing which Cinderella picture should go with her signature, etc...
You may be surprised at the 3 yr old - it's a great way to get them to interact with the characters. And it's a great souvenier when you get home to remember the trip.
We will be a group of four adults. We all are planning on getting autographs. My mom is 78 and this is her first trip. She's so excited and been planning on buying herself an autograph book at the resort on our arrival day.
I think if the others get them the 3yo will want one too. Our DD started hers when she was just 4 - now she also scribbled all over the pages too, but she was very happy with the book and quickly understood how to present it to the characters.
