Autograph books, pins, etc.

Hi,

Just wondering is it true that you have to buy an autograph book if you want the disney characters to sign their name. Some of the kids are talking about getting autographs, so just wondering about cost...

Also, what price are the pins?

The autograph books aren't expensive, they cost about 4 euros.
One will do won't it? My DD has been to DLRP twice now, and hasn't filled her autograph book yet.

Pins are usually around 6 euros each, but I did see some on sale for half price at the start of this month (this was in the shop at the Santa Fe hotel).

When we went last year we didnt use a proper autograph book but a small notebook with a picture of the Princesses on the cover so you dont have to buy a proper one if you dont want to

These are a couple of pins I have

All the shops in Disney have them. They come with different characters,rides,hotel on. You can collect them and/or trade them. I just collect !!

There are 6 kids coming from 3 different houses. So if they don't all want one then we will still need at least 3, one for every house.

You do not need an official book for the characters to sign. Some just buy a Disney notebook from Tesco,WH Smith etc and a chunky ballpen(characters find these easier to hold!)

It may be a cheaper option with 6 kids

Personally, I think photos with them would be much better. I'll see what they say.

I have done up journals for the 6 kids, each journal has a few pages about how we got there, weather, etc. then also, a "diary" page for each day we will be there, with "what was my favourite/worst ride" etc.

Also, have word search, trivia questions on the park and for the kids under 7, pages with the numbers 1 to 9, they can practice their writing and colouring. Will keep them occupied on the plane. Printed all off the www.mouseforless.com website

Of course some of the adults reaction to this was "we'll be writing til Christmas". For goodness sake, they will probably never go again, it's just a momento from the kids point of view. But again, can't please everyone.

Anyone else who hasn't seen these journals, go look. They look great when printed and put together in their little folders (yes, did the folders myself). And yes I am a big kid, who hates rollercoasters, but refuses to come away from DLRP without going on every one at least once!!!!

So if you see someone walking around, green in colour followed by a group of 12 moaning people, THAT's ME!!

There is an autograph book that has a space to put in a photo of the character also

As my 3 are now on there 2nd autograph books = 6,this would have been easier.
The added attraction is that you only need the character to sign one book

If they are going to ask for autographs, take the chunkiest felt pen you can find. Most of the characters are in costume and have very large gloves on as part of the costume. They can't hold an ordinary biro and have problems holding anything in their hands/paws/gloves etc. Also, with a felt pen, the signatures are easier to read.

PS. Eeyore and Sully don't sign autographs as they can't hold any sort of pen, so you will have to go with the photo option for them.

PPS. Don't just shove an autograph book under their nose the minute you meet them. They much prefer a bit of inter-action first, even if it is just shaking hands. My DD carried round a large Mickey Mouse soft toy today which got her noticed by the characters and they made a fuss of it and her.

PPPS. You might have to be a bit pushy - certainly not of the characters, but other children and especially their parents. The safest options are were there is an organised line up rather than a scrum.

Thank you for all this info. Believe me I am not the kind of person to be pushy, I don't skip queues, I stay in the lane of traffic I am supposed to be in, even if I could change lanes and jump in further up the queue, etc. And it really really annoys me when people do this sort of thing. Manners go a long way and my daughter knows that. I certainly don't blame the kids, it's the parents fault for teaching them that in the first place.

I think we will probably just go with the photos. I would even be willing to get the kids to stand in such a position that we could even get the character in the background. I don't want to be plagueing them for photos. I know that's part of their job, but still. I wouldn't like to descend on them with a group of 13, talking to them for a few minutes and then asking them to pose for 4 different lots of photos (4 diff families going).

Its just, I would have thought as the age ranges of the children might suggest they may want to do different things and be in different places, it could well be easier, and a lot less stressful, for you to maybe split up for part of your day, then get back together again for meals and the Parades for example.

Your right, it probably would be best to divide up. There are 3 families going in the group and each family has young kids. The kids want to go on the rides together, so splitting up wouldn't allow them to do that.

Now in saying that, we really won't know until we get there and see what the queues are like. I have everyone warned (so I don't get the blame) that we could be queueing over 2 hours for the rides. So if the group want to split up and move about off with them, I will just worry myself with the 3 kids I have with me.

I can't believe it's here already. I booked this back in March, we head to up the country tomorrow to meet up with the other half of the group and fly out together on Sunday monrning.

Just posted this on another thread. With these books, you can attach the pins to the strap of the bag. Think I am going to take a picture.

I just got the cutest autograph book off E-bay. It is a lady that hand makes bags to carry the books in, the best part is they match. She has a ton of Disney fabric. The book she supplies is 4x6 I think. The strap on the bag, the kids can use to put there pins on. Mine was $12 including shipping. I got red/white polka dot fabric for minnie with a big black bow on the front and the strap is black too. I don't know if we are allowed to post pictures on here, but I can take a picture of mine if anyone wants to see it.

You don't need an official book - the characters will sign anything - I know people who have had mattes signed then put them in a frame with a photo when they got home.
