Autograph books for 3 kids under 6??

I've been debating about whether or not to get the autograph books for the kids to have the characters sign. Our kids will be 5,5, almost 4 on our next trip. I'm sure they'd love having the characters sign, but I must admit it sounds like a pain to me .

There's no way "sharing" one book would work; I'm sure each kid would need their own. I'm afraid it'll take up a lot of time to have each character sign 3 books. Does it?? Is it a pain to haul the books around the park? I can just picture one of my kids losing theirs....

If we do decide to get the autograph books, what's a good kind to buy (preferably inexpensive)? I think Frodor has a "Disney world for kids by kids" book that includes autograph pages--are these any good? Or too bulky to carry around the parks?

Any thoughts/ideas/advice/past experiences much appreciated!

I'm bringing one, homemade book for my two kids (age 4 and 3) to share. It's basically a small 3-ring binder. Then the pages can be removed and put in individual books once we are home for the kids.

When our kids were small (3 and 6) I found some Disney autograph books at The Dollar Store. I bought "fat" pens that click because the characters can't grip small pens. However, my kids were only interested in those autograph books the first 2 or 3 trips so I didn't bother to lug them around after that. They no longer make the trip with us. They are in the kids' memory boxes, that's good enough for both me and them

It doesn't take much extra time and the charcters never seem to mind...we had three items signed by each character...everyone seems to be doing it...it makes a great keepsake!

I would get a white baseball cap at a craft store and a sharpie marker(color). We done this and our girls just wore the caps to the parks and would take them off only for the characters to sign them...on our last trip they brought their ones from the year before and had more signatures added to them...the had fun looking for the characters that hadn't signed them...we hang the caps on thier wall at home.

We had alot a people say they wish they brought hats and weren't carry those books.

First trip ages 5 & 4, I never even thought about them but it didnt take the kids long to catch on about the autograph books and wondered why they didnt have one etc. The same as you I thought they would be a pain.

The following year, we bought cheap ones at the dollar store and they kids were thrilled to get pictures and autographs and it isnt really a pain at all

Last year they took the books back and got more autographs and pictures.

It is one of their most cherished souvenirs and love to show people.

Never thought I would say this but I would definatley recommend getting them for your kids at this age they still belive and like I say its really not that bad waiting in line and especially the smiles on your kids faces.

I did a little more than just an autograph book. It cost more too, but was so worth it to us. I decorated mini scrapbooks with Disney stickers. The girls collected signatures in there and when we got back I had DD's film developed and she made her own Disney scrapbook with signatures and pictures she took herself. It is priceless!

When we went unexpectedly 6 months later I made another one for my then 2-year-old. I used the leftover stickers to decorate 2 full size scrapbook pages so DD7 could still collect signatures. Those pages went into the inside of our scrapbook as is and I added some pics to the other album so they each have their own complete Disney scrapbook in addition to the family album.

I loved having the full size scrapbook pages with signatures for my own album, but since I use 12x12 it was kind of bulky. I carried an album box with the pages, pens and other items we collected that we knew we wanted to scrapbook (maps, dinner napkins, etc) which otherwise would have just been tucked here and there so it worked out well.

We thought it was a pain and it was. We have twins and a DS 14 months younger. You will be carrying the three books around and it takes alot of time. We did autograph books for the first time last Easter when the kids were 6, 6 and 5 and then only because somebody gave them the books. We didn't always carry them with us and we told the kids that we wouldn't. We did a character meal which helps cut down on the time wasting in the parks. Find a character meal that has alot of characters in it and that will help! You want a small book and a big fat pen.

My personal advice....wait until they are a couple years older.

Another vote for HUGE pain waiting for three signatures. You'd probably spend 30 minutes with EACH Power Ranger they take soooo long to sign. If you can somehow convince the kids that there is one autograph per family they'll get a lot more "play" time with the characters rather than the character spending forever to sign 3 books and then very quickly posing for a picture so they can move on to the next family.

DD6 LOVES the autographs and has all three trips we've taken (first when she was 4.) DS4 loves the characters but couldn't care less about having his own autograph book- and he usually MUST do everything like his sister. We use a spiral-bound book of multi-colored notecards I buy at WalMart for under $2. The card are perforated and I tear (or cut) the autographs out of the book and put them in a photo album under the pic of the kids with the character.

Characters and autographs are a huge part of my kids' trip so I'm not suggesting you skip them. I think we've met 50+ characters each of our 3 trips. Three autographs per character would have cut majorly into our ride or meeting other characters time! Good luck convincing your kids only one set of autographs is necessary!!

The characters are as much a part of the parks as the rides....however, we only hop in line if it is short, a wicked cool character, etc. The character meals and meet n greet at Epcot are a great way to collect autographs fast(er). The characters sign pretty fast and just make sure every kid has their own pen.

I made autograph books by downloading Disney clipart and having the books bound at Fedex/Kinkos for about $5 each. Because I made the books, I was able to customize them and only included favorite characters -- one book has no girls, one is mostly all girls, and one is all classics, boys and girls, plus plenty of blank pages. The characters gave the children a lot of attention (Minnie sat w/my daughter and looked through her book cover to cover) and the kids love to look at them. When we weren't "hunting" for autographs, we stored the books in ziplock bags in the stroller basket.

It is actually a lot of fun .

We have never done it. I think it sound like a total pain. My kids have never asked and I have never offered.
