Hi everyone. When we went to Disney several years ago my children really enjoyed getting autographs. I bought a book that had a place to sign on one side and a sleeve for a photograph in the other while at Disney. They still look at the pictures! (and I am sure would not look at the plain autographs) Does anyone know where I can buy these more custom than the plain ones Disney sells. (which appear to be the same ones we bought 4 years ago!) I looked briefly on etsy but they only appear to be ones where you glue the photograph down - this does not work good with little grimy fingers touching them. :) Thanks.

Do you have a Disney store near you? (I've heard they have different autograph books there but haven't checked myself) or a Hallmark store? I was surprised at the amount of Disney merchandise they had but again I can't remember if there was autograph books though. I agree, why don't the parks update with different books, they are still selling the same books we bought years ago on our visit last fall.

Another thing to think about is that some people bring along a plain 8x10 photo matte for all the characters to sign. The only thing with that is trying to keep it flat.

You could buy your own photo sleeves for cheap on Amazon and glue them on yourself, into a book from Etsy!

Hi ... some ideas for you if you're feeling a bit crafty:

1) Disney Theme Photo Album:

* Check Disney store for official Disney Photo Albums (if you're looking for a more authentic Disney album) OR check other stores that sells Disney Theme Photo Albums

* Insert Photo (4x6") in 1 sleeve
* Insert Autograph Card (*) in corresponding sleeve

Note:

Autograph Card (*) = buy cardstock (lots to choose from ... colored, multi-colored, white etc.) AND cut cardstock to (4x6") size AND have characters sign the Autograph Card.

Advantages:

* No worries about not having enough autograph pages and needing to buy a 2nd autograph book
* Bring only the autograph cards & a small clipboard (get from dollar store?) for character signing = probably lighter and less bulky to carry than autograph books (storage: use a large ziplock bag)
* Assemble everything once you return home

2) Binder with Front View Cover:

* Same idea as above BUT in case you can't find Disney Theme Photo Albums, buy a "Front View Binder" and customize it with your own customized Disney cover (lots of Disney images online to use).

* With the addition that you will need to buy photo sleeves (**)

Example of Front View Binder (strictly for your reference ... NOT endorsing product) to clarify what I mean by "Front View Binder"

Example of Photo Sleeves (**) (strictly for your reference ... NOT endorsing product) to clarify what I mean by "Photo Sleeves"

- You can buy more expensive "archival" type photo sleeves OR just regular photo sleeves (there's softer, flexible kinds and some which are more rigid)

3) Self Adhesive Photo Sleeve (***):

* Attach your own self adhesive photo sleeve to autograph album of your choice

4) Autograph Pages ... Make Your Own:

Check out the forum called Creative DISigns. Do a search for Autograph Pages for ideas.

* Make your own 8.5 x 11" autograph page ... 1/2 page for signature & 1/2 page for photo
* Insert finished pages into 8.5 x 11" page protectors
* Insert protected autograph pages into either a Disneyland Photo Album (3 ring) OR a Customized View Binder

* NOTE: you can try and get the above noted pages bound (eg. spiral bound or other binding) when you return home BUT if you use a binder format you can add/remove pages as like and even continue adding pages from "future" visits

* NOTE: I would only bring the autograph pages & clipboard for ease of transportation and put everything in the photo album/binder once you return home

Hope the above gives you some ideas to consider. Good luck and have fun!! :-)

Wow! Thank you so much! I have three kids now (last time was two) and everyone wants to do an autograph book. :)

Your welcome! With 3 kids, if you're only bringing cards and not the entire book, it should be much lighter to transport.

Don't forget big pens/markers for signing AND I can't say enough about the value of using Ziplock Bags (stronger, freezer type) to keep your cards dry & clean!

As well, I suggest bringing rubber bands or clips to clip your cards together (if the cards are kept in a neat stack they will have less chance of being bent in the middle) ... perhaps the following:

Parent = keep master bag of "blank cards" & pens/markers to distribute to each child

Each child = has their own ziplock bag with their name labelled on it & each bag will store their signed autograph cards (you can always just use 1 bag for the signed cards but this means sorting out the cards (3x) when you return home since you have 3 children).

I also suggest you write down the name of the character on the back of the card immediately after IF you can't decipher the signature ... will make matching up signatures with your photos easier once you get home ... no need for guesswork!

Enjoy and have fun! :-)

This year I am making some for my kids (assuming we can go) that just repurpose some I got from the Dollar store. They have these $1 photo books there that hold two 4x6 to a sheet, and I make 4x6 (or 4x5.5 inch) white cards (or you can print some more fun ones) and put them in so we can put photos in above the signatures. I swap out the covers by cutting very neatly along the top of the cover of the book, pulling out the paper, and then putting my own homemade cover inside.
