I'm putting together an autograph book for our upcoming trip using many of the templates from the board professionals (which by the way, all of you are awesome!!!!) and I'm going to get them printed via shutterfly (or walmart...which ever place will print them for me!). I have two questions:

1. Should I get them printed on matte or glossy paper?

2. Which Sharpie pen should we use to get the autographs?

Ultra fine point?...too small?
Fine point?
Bold?...too big?

I figure since the designers put a ton of work into the templates, I'm going to be putting in a lot of time putting the book together, I would hate it if everything was ruined by have the wrong sized sharpie!!!

Thanks,

Evan

I suggest using a matte finish, and I used regular sharpies for signatures. If you are using one of the great autograph pages with lots of ink...you won't want a fine or extra fine tip. The retractable pens are the best so that you don't have to worry with a lid.

My big hint with sharpie markers...is make sure that you get your hugs and pictures in before you give the characters the markers...otherwise you will get marked with a sharpie. We have several shirts and a very expensive Bibbity Bobbity Boo outfit that all have sharpie swipes on them.

Evan,

  • I resized the autograph pages to a 4x6 and then printed them on plain, unlined 5x7 notecards from Office Depot.
  • When I printed the images, I lined them up all the way to the outer edge so that there was an inch margin on the left-hand side.
  • Then I punched holes in that margin and bound the pages together with big metal rings (also from OD, the kind that open and close).
  • This will give you a lot of flexibility - to add (found something new!), subtract (ones that are signed) or change the order as you go.

It was a cheap, easy solution and because of the size difference, later I can cut the autographs down to the 4x6 and put them in a scrapbook or a regular photo album next to a picture of our children with the character. Using photo paper would have been nice, but since I was making 4 that would have been very cost prohibitive.

Thanks for the suggestions so far.

I used to be a Disney "Pro", but now that I have kids, there is a "whole new world" (hmmm...) for me to discover! You guys are sure making it easy for me though!

Once I have Disney with the kids mastered, then it will be Disney with the grandchildren...Yikes!!!!!

I'll think I'll stick with thinking about the small stuff for now...like my Sharpie question!

Thanks again,

Evan
