has anyone waited to get onboard to buy an autograph book so it would have the DCL logo on it? or do they even have them on board??

My son will strike up conversations with the flight attendants, and have them sign, and other people he meets along the way. Can you get one through the Disney Store?

Also, if you have them sign one side of the book, and leave the other side blank, you can go back and paste some of the photos of those folks from the cruise, such as waiters and characters into the book to make a nice memory of the trip.

I'am sure you can Kjunswty,, :bounce:

thanks cmatt  :sunny: :earsboy: :earseek:

The Disney Store does not carry Autograph books. Haven't for some time now. We sell "notebooks" which you could use - also good for journaling what they did that day.

We purchased ours in the MCO airport at the WDW store. This way we had it for the terminal - goofy, chip and dale show up there.

That surprises me. I bought some (50% off!) at a Disney store warehouse outlet just last month. Maybe those were the last of the discontinued. They don't say "Disney Cruise Line" of course, just "Disney" in general.
The flight attendant autograph, and space for pictures ideas are great! It'll get the vacation mode started out right off the bat.
We've passed on the autograph books idea at Disney Parks in the past, because I just couldn't see spending the time in line when there was so much to do in so little time. (I love the new 'fast pass' - hummm, there's an idea forming here...) Glad I can just "chill out, Mom" with a lovely 7 days this time.

Cindy,
Does it have the DCL logo on it? We could just get the traditional one at the park but I'd rather not :bounce: :bounce:

by the way - don't you think they should come with some way to attach them to yourself / child ~ like a neck strap (and velcro for the pen) Somehow I end up lugging both books - the pens - and the camera and did I mention the camcorder! ha ha ha

One other FYI...if you wait to get the book onboard you will have to wait until you sail. The shops are not open while you are in port. As another poster said, the characters show up in the terminal and are out and about before departure so you might want to get one in advance.

Michele

thanks, michele
I forgot about that~ might scratch that idea and just get a photo album w/logo for all the pics I'll take!!

I've used the blank address books for one of my kids autograph books. He tries to have the characters sign in their section (i.e. Pooh under the Ps, Mickey under the Ms, etc.). It's small enough to fit in a fanny pack.

This time, my daughter doesn't want to use the same book (hers was a diary type) that she used the last two trips, so she's just taking a blank journal that she got for Christmas.

One option to "hook it to you" would be to tie some ribbons around the binding, then clip the ribbons to your belt/fanny pack, etc. Be sure it's a secure binding though. The journals would work fine, but the diary my daughter had slipped into the cover, so I wouldn't trust it.

Just got back and did not see a autograph book with the DCL logo. Just saw the regular once.

We actually had postcards signed on Castaway Cay, Mickey and Goofy, and mailed it back from Castaway Cay. Hope we got it soon.

we do that to Din - - too bad they don't have Disney stamps:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

just take your book to the guest services desk - explain which characters you may have missed - leave the book for a while, and it is incredible - those magical folks at guest services can track down the characters and have your book signed and ready for you to pick up within a couple hours!;) This worked well for our DD, who felt remorseful at the end of the cruise for NOT gathering signatures. Now she has about 15 pages in her diary signed by various disney characters! And amazing how customer service was able to track them all down so quickly for her!;)

I was going to come home and post this question myself. Somebody read my mind. I thought that I had to find out if they sell books at the terminal because my kids always do the autograph books at the park, so I know they will want to on the boat. We won't be going to WDW before our cruise so I'm going to have to figure something out. I was really hoping that they had books with the DCL logo on it, so we could keep track of them better at the house. (They are starting to pile up from previous trips)

I have bought to journal books with about 400 pages each. Put bright colored paper on the front and back. Added some neat scrapbooking stickers with beach stuff, ships and the disney characters also. Put the dates and the kids names. I am giving these and izone sticker cameras for xmas. I thought this would be neat because its different. The kids can have anyone and everyone sign them. Along with taking pictures themselves with the izone cameras. It also gives them spots to write down some of their memories. Just another idea!! 388 days and counting everyone of them.:bounce:

Made one for my son using the small spiral bound memory book. Used a photo of the ship from the brochure and titled it "My "WONDERful Trip" in wavy water letters and modpodged all this to the cover. Used a macrame type cord to run through the spiral to attach the fat Sharpie. He has an I-Zone camera to use with regular and "sticker" type film to take photos. Total cost to make this book was about $5.

We leave this Sunday!! YEAH!!!

Vic and GoofGal, you are so creative! Would you mind making up a couple hundred of those and sending them out to us ??? LOL
Those DCL logo books SHOULD be sold at the terminal!!! Someone with connections ... make that happen, OK?
Oh, and I know I'm really BAD, but a thought crossed my mind when reading
guest services can track down the characters and have your book signed
What if they just have some talented guest services cm's or if one character can do all of the signatures with individuality... hee hee. My kids would never know the difference.:smooth: I'd say "more power to them" if they can get the job done efficiently, and save their strength for putting out even bigger fires -- OH, bad pun...sorry:rolleyes: LOL I'd better stop now:p
Good luck in all things, my fellow cruise board addicts.

Exactly......;) Ah, the magic of it all!

And I love your last line which I didn't quote here!!!! LOL - love that pun.... good one! You ARE bad, Dreams! LOL!:D

My husband did something similar for my son a couple of years ago. My husband was on a two week business trip to Orlando (tough job, huh :smooth:) and was there during the Daytona 500. He went over to watch one of the qualifying races. Our DS is a HUGE Jeff Gordan fan, and really wanted an autographed photo. DH got the photo for a semi-reasonable price (something like $10), but they wanted something like another $20 to get it autographed, even assuming you could make it through the line. So my DS has an "autographed", pesonalized Jeff Gordan picture that he treasures. Like you say, it's what the kid thinks that really counts!!
