AAA discounts for the autotrain. I haven't done it myself but if you're looking to stay in Florida for an extended period of time, it's nice to have a vehicle that you don't have to pay rent on.

My DH's former associate used to head down to Florida on it every winter. He was a regular snowbird. He said that he liked the fact that he could pack the car and leave it packed. He just took an overnight bag on the train. He and his wife wouldn't spring for the bedroom, so they always arrived a little stiff and tired. If you're not in a hurry and can take a day to rest once you arrive, it's a nice trip.

I was going to do it but i said to myself if i drove all the down here i can finish the drive and save the money

Our last few trips (prior to the move) we would drive down and then take the AutoTrain home. This way we could do laundry, run errands, shop, etc., and be ready to go to work the next morning. When we drove both ways we would be exhausted when we got home.

We took it home on our last troip since we were getting back the day before school started.

I just priced it for June because we are thinking about going and it will be $1100!!!. Our last trip we were a family of 4 with a car. Now we are a family of 6 with a mini van. I have 2 under 2 and they are free but they dont get seats. I cant see being in the train for that long and them not being in a seat.
