Auto Train Discounts

I know that Amtrak usually allows children to travel on the train for free in the summer time. In the past has Amtrak given this summer promotion to the Auto Train? Other than AAA what are some of the discounts for the autotrain? Trying to figure out when to book. Don't want to book then have a summer promotion be revealed.

I think the summer discounts do apply to the autotrain, but I would go ahead and book. Amtrack has an unbeatable cancellation policy and the longer you wait, the higher the rates will go. So in essence, you could get a better deal now with a AAA discount than later with kids riding free because by then you are already in the next rate bracket, and...if the rate ends up being better later with the promo, just have them adjust your reservation to reflect the promo.
