Auto insurance covid rebates

Any have mercury insurance? Any refunds or discounts from Them? We have 2 cars that aren’t being used due to the quarantine. The 3 rd car is only being used every other week for hubbys work

The right move by all insurance companies as less driving due to COVID will result in less claims thus less money paid out. In regards to mileage driven we have been pleased with our insurers telematics program; seems to be a more inline rate for the actual driving taking place.

I was all excited about this. I got the email from Farmers. I guess I didn't put two and two together and realize it was 25% of one months premium so $18.xx; I guess better then nothing. And it was very nice of them to do this, they don't have an obligation to do this.

I got an email from Geico stating a 15% credit on renewals from April 8 through Oct 7
Ours just renewed in March so in September I’ll be getting a nice discount. We’ve got 5 cars on our policy

I got this too. For PPs who are questioning about changing coverage, keep in mind this email came to me unsolicited. I assume that means they're giving the discount to all of their customers across the board. They didn't say it's conditional based on whether you own vs. lease and you don't have to strip it down til it looks like it's been in a North Philly chop shop.

They just being nice. They are also not cancelling policies due to non payment through the end of this month.
If I had to guess, they are raking in tons of $$ and barely needing to pay for accidents since there are so few cars on the road.

We renew in late Sept so I'll see then what that discount works out to be.

I would call and ask. They usually don't discount if suddenly cars are rarely driven. I already asked that when our ds went to college and he didn't bring his car. You could however, ask to change those cars "use" from driving to work x miles each way to Pleasure Use. In NJ that means not driven to work or work is <3 miles from home.

When I was googling for my own insurance company info, I found this article that states:

Mercury Insurance: 15 percent credit on April and May premiums

Ironically, it came from a site called Mercury News
https://www.mercurynews.com/2020/04...ers-coronavirus-credits-is-yours-on-the-list/

Upon opening my Allstate app, it shows the amount I’ll be “paid back” for April, which will be deposited early May. Likewise, May’s payback will be deposited early June. I’ll get a whopping total of $33 for 2 vehicles.

We are getting $28 for April. My feeling is they don't have to do anything, so I'll gladly accept the goodwill gesture.:confused3

i'm so aggravated...my insurer didn't do a thing...I've emailed them to ask and radio silence...they don't even give me the courtesy of a reply. Policy's up next month and they'll probably have the nerve to increase it again - when everyone else is offering rebates? Guess I need to start getting competitive bids.

Who's your insurance with? I hadn't heard anything and googled mine. They announced on Friday a 25% credit on policies for April & May.

Finally got an e-mail from my insurance company (Mapfre); biggest insurance carrier in MA. 15% discount for April + May, they estimate ~ $40 each.
I also need to e-mail my agent to let him know that I retired last month, maybe I could get more of a discount long term.

Not sure why people are saying their companies do not have to give them money back. Most insurances are Mutuals and any excess profits are usually required to go back to the members either through reduced premiums or in some cases an annual dividend check (my holder does an annual dividend usually between $150 and 250). So your discount is legally required and not a gift.
