Autism and Disney Dining

Once again, thank you everyone for your advice! We are only staying 5 nights and therefore will only be making 5 ADR's. Right now we have that many planned. I am still hoping for Chef Mickeys to replace one of them. And my friend is meeting us in Disney so now we will be a party of 4 for some meals. :)

If you are going to be 3 at SciFi, I would ask for a picnic table. Thats where we sat when we were there and it was great. We were at the far back of the restaraunt, but that left us with a great view of everything. I wouldnt hesitate to sit there again. The other thing I liked is that you are all facing each other (like a regular table) as opposed to sitting in a row.

I think the "cars" in the Sci Fi Drive in were 3 rows of "seats". So if you put her in the front seat, you would be between any other people.

Same thing in the Biergarten...wouldnt' you be able to put her on the aisle sid or the other side and use yourself as a barrier?

Here is what we did a year ago.

Chef Mickey's
WCC
CRT
Boma
Crystal Palace
Princess Storybook Breakfast
Playhouse Disney Meal(This one we thought was really LOUD)

DS is a sensory seeker. Chef Mickey's was by far his favorite.

Hi:
Two of my three are special needs. The oldest is ADD. Not ADHD but likes the business of places. He can be innapropriate at times so if the atmosphere is intresting he is less likely to get bored. He is twenty one but looks about 15 and is in actuality about 13. Ugh. He absolutley adores the Rainforest Cafe. My DD is 12 and mild MR. We get the attitude and everything else that goes with a preteen girl. She is more interested in the pretty, like Cindy's Castle but those ressies are hard to come by. They both liked the belly dancers in the Morrocan Resteraunt, I forgot the name. But then my DH and my 19 year old DS did to. Most reseraunts inside the park are quite busy and are probably a good bet while most of the ones at the resorts are usually quieter and more laid back.

This was our experience of DD & Autism last year. My ds was 4 at the time, high functioning and verbal
Donalds breakfastasaurus couldnt keep him in the resturant to dark & characters
Chef mickey tolerated - just
Crystal palace - lots of screaming left with no food
Hollywood & vine - took dh half hour to convince him to join us
Sci fi loved it!
Prime time Hated it
WCC Amused by the sauce bottle antics
Boma tolerated it
RFC Loves it
We cancelled most our adrs in the end as we were there for 3 weeks and the stress got too much. We stuck to some for our other ds.
Sorry to be negative just our experience he was so excited about the meals before we left. Our family ended up eating CS most of the holiday!!

I was going to say Sci-Fi. : )

Enjoy whatever you choose!
